Hotel Description

You know what? Marc München totally surprised me. I mean, when you first walk up to it, it’s not trying to blow you away with some flashy exterior – it’s got this understated elegance that honestly feels more Munich than touristy. The lobby has this warm, modern vibe with these gorgeous dark wood accents that somehow manage to feel both contemporary and traditionally Bavarian at the same time.

The thing that really got me was how the staff actually seemed to care about the details. Check-in was smooth (thank god, because I’d been dragging my suitcase around cobblestone streets for way too long), and the front desk guy – I think his name was Stefan – gave me these insider tips about which U-Bahn stops to avoid during rush hour. That’s the kind of local knowledge you just don’t get at chain hotels. My room was on the fourth floor, and while it wasn’t huge by American standards, it was smartly designed with this built-in desk area that actually worked for getting some work done. The bathroom was spotless with one of those rainfall showerheads that makes you want to stay in there forever – which I definitely did after walking around the Altstadt all day.

What I really appreciated was the location, though they don’t make a huge deal about it. You’re close enough to Marienplatz that you can walk there in maybe fifteen minutes, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with tourist crowds right outside your window. There’s this little bakery around the corner – I swear it’s where locals actually go for their morning semmel – and the whole neighborhood just feels authentically Munich. The hotel bar stays open until midnight most nights, and it’s got this cozy atmosphere where you’ll find a mix of business travelers and locals having a quiet drink. I ended up chatting with a couple from Berlin who’d been coming back to Marc München for three years running, which honestly says something about the place. Sure, the elevator is a bit slow and the Wi-Fi can get spotty during busy periods, but those are pretty minor complaints. For a solid four-star experience that doesn’t feel corporate or stuffy, Marc München delivers exactly what you’d want from a Munich stay.

  We were satisfied with what we have experienced: easy parking on site, walking distance – 15-20 minutes to Marienplatz, coffee machine in the room, comfortable beds, quick check in.

  The room was well designed to maximize space. The scent was really nice, and that makes a big difference in how you feel about a room. It automatically felt more luxurious. There was also a minibar.
  
  What could be improved: Parking was awkward and a bit of a challenge even though our car was small. It was unclear where to go and the cost was listed differently in different places. The star was a little brusque.

  Good location – close both to the train station and main tourist attractions. Our Room was clean and cosy. Even though the hotel didn’t provide with free water in bottles, there in a lobby was dispenser with drinking water so we could fill our bottles.
