I stumbled across this apartment rental in the Old City completely by accident – was originally looking at hotels but honestly, this turned out to be so much better than any cramped hotel room would’ve been. The location is what really got me – you’re right in the heart of everything but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with constant street noise (well, except for the occasional delivery truck in the morning, but that’s just city life). What I loved is how you can walk to pretty much everything worth seeing, and I mean actually walk, not that “walking distance” nonsense where you need hiking boots. The Old City has this amazing vibe where every street corner feels like it has a story, and you’ll find yourself taking different routes just to see what you’ll discover. There’s this little café about two blocks away that becomes your morning ritual – trust me on this one.

The apartment itself is surprisingly spacious for European standards. The two bedrooms are actually proper bedrooms, not converted closets, and the main living area has these big windows that let in amazing light during the day. The kitchen is fully equipped, which honestly saved me a fortune because eating out for every meal gets expensive fast. I ended up cooking breakfast most mornings and even tried my hand at some local recipes I picked up from the market down the street. The bathroom situation is solid – good water pressure, which you never know if you’re going to get, and everything feels clean and updated without being sterile.

You know what really impressed me though? The little touches that show someone actually cares about this place. There are local guidebooks (actual books, not just pamphlets), the WiFi password was clearly written out, and they even had some basic groceries waiting – nothing fancy, just coffee, milk, bread, the kind of stuff you need right when you arrive and don’t want to hunt for. The check-in process was smooth, no standing around in a lobby wondering if your room is ready.

I’d say this place hits that sweet spot between having your own space and being connected to everything. The 8.7 rating makes sense – it’s really well done but not absolutely perfect (the shower could be a bit bigger, and sometimes the neighbors upstairs are a little enthusiastic about their evening conversations). During peak tourist season you’ll definitely want to book ahead because there aren’t tons of apartments like this in the Old City that actually deliver on what they promise. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying an extra day because you’re not ready to leave, and then you’re already planning when you can come back.
