So I ended up at the Leonardo Hotel Munich City South on one of those last-minute business trips, and honestly? It surprised me in a good way. You know how some 4-star hotels feel like they’re trying too hard – all marble and intimidation at the front desk? This place actually feels… well, comfortable. The lobby has this understated thing going on, sort of modern without being cold, and the staff at check-in were genuinely helpful rather than just polite.

Here’s what I really appreciated – and this might sound weird – but the elevators are fast. I mean, when you’re rushing between meetings or hauling luggage after a long flight, these little things matter. The rooms are what you’d expect for a solid 4-star: clean lines, decent space, and thank God, blackout curtains that actually work. The bed was firmer than I usually like, but I slept well anyway. There’s this quiet efficiency to the whole place that I found relaxing. The WiFi didn’t drop once (miracle in Germany sometimes), and the air conditioning actually responds when you adjust it – you’d be amazed how many hotels mess that up.

What really sold me on this place, though, is its position in the city. It’s south of the main tourist chaos, which means you’re not fighting crowds of lederhosen-clad visitors every time you leave the hotel, but you can still get downtown quickly. The U-Bahn connections are solid – honestly better than some of the pricier places I’ve stayed closer to Marienplatz. Plus there’s actual parking if you’re driving, and it doesn’t cost more than your room rate (looking at you, city center hotels). The breakfast spread was surprisingly good too – proper coffee, not that watery stuff, and they had these little pretzels that were probably better than what I paid 8 euros for at the train station later. I mean, it’s not going to win any culinary awards, but for a hotel breakfast? Totally decent. The 8.1 rating makes sense to me – it’s the kind of place that just works without any drama, delivers what it promises, and doesn’t leave you with any horror stories to tell when you get home.
