You know what really struck me about the Leonardo Hotel Munich City Olympiapark? It’s got this perfect sweet spot location that most tourists totally miss. I mean, everyone’s fighting over rooms near Marienplatz, but honestly — being up by the Olympiapark area gives you the best of both worlds without the tourist circus.

The hotel itself feels properly modern without trying too hard, if that makes sense. It’s got that clean German efficiency thing down pat, but the lobby actually has some personality to it. Check-in was refreshingly quick (I’ve waited longer at 2-star places), and the staff seemed to genuinely know the neighborhood rather than just rattling off scripted directions. My room faced toward the park area, which meant mornings were pretty quiet — no tram bells or early delivery trucks like you’d get downtown. The bed was one of those firm European setups that takes a night to get used to if you’re coming from softer American mattresses, but I actually slept better than I expected. What I really appreciated was the bathroom setup — proper water pressure and a shower that didn’t flood the entire floor, which honestly shouldn’t be remarkable but somehow is these days.

Here’s the thing about this location that makes it work: you’re maybe a 10-minute walk from the actual Olympic grounds, which are genuinely worth exploring even if you’re not into sports history. The tower views are incredible, and there’s usually way fewer people than at the typical viewpoints. Plus, the U-bahn connections from nearby are solid — you can get to the city center in about 15 minutes, but you’re also perfectly positioned for day trips north or quick escapes to the English Garden’s less crowded sections. I noticed a decent bakery just down the street that locals actually use (always a good sign), and there’s proper grocery shopping within walking distance, which matters if you’re staying more than a couple nights. The hotel’s 4-star rating feels honest — it’s definitely comfortable and well-maintained, but it’s not trying to be flashy about it. That 8.1 rating seems about right too; it does what it promises without major surprises either way. Parking was straightforward if you’re driving, which isn’t something you can say about most Munich hotels. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I wanted to actually feel like I was staying in a neighborhood rather than a tourist bubble.

  Good breakfast and good location, close to Olympiapark. The center of the city is just a short tram ride away. Our room on the back of the hotel was very quiet.
  
  What could be improved: We had a superior triple room. There were two single beds ands a couch that folded out to become a bed. Thew choice of a double bed would be nice. The sofa bed was narrow. The room could have been cheaper.

  Super nice hotel with super friendly stuff!!!
  To be honest, it was a nice surprise this hotel: comfy bed and small details like free coffee or bottle of water in our room.
  
  The hotel is not in the city center, but very well communicated with the rest of the city by tram, so no complaints at all! Totally recommended it!

  What could be improved: The parking is a nightmare narrow and with ramps to fit more cars. I would never get my car nor me into such an stressful parking space.
