Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about the Leonardo Hotel Munich City North? It’s actually positioned in this sweet spot where you get that proper Munich vibe without the insane tourist crowds crushing you every time you step outside. I mean, you’re still connected to everything – the U-Bahn gets you downtown in maybe 15 minutes – but there’s breathing room here that you just don’t find near Marienplatz.

The building itself has this clean, modern German efficiency thing going on (in the best way possible), and honestly, the 8.2 rating makes total sense once you settle in. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully designed – not trying too hard to be trendy, but everything works exactly like it should. The beds are seriously comfortable, which matters more than you think after walking around Munich all day, and the bathrooms have that satisfying European hotel quality where the shower pressure actually delivers. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays, even with the city location. You can hear a bit of street life if you listen for it, but it’s more ambient than disruptive – sort of like a gentle reminder that you’re in a real neighborhood, not some sterile hotel bubble.

The staff here gets it, you know? They’re helpful without hovering, and they actually know the area well enough to give you solid recommendations that aren’t just the obvious tourist traps. When I asked about good spots for breakfast nearby, they pointed me toward this local bakery that I never would’ve found otherwise. The hotel’s breakfast is decent too, but honestly, Munich’s got so many great morning spots that I liked having options. Parking’s straightforward if you’re driving – not cheap, but then again, nothing in Munich really is these days. The whole experience feels like staying at a place that understands modern travelers actually want: reliable comfort, genuine local connection, and staff who treat you like a person rather than a room number. It’s the kind of four-star spot that doesn’t need to shout about being four-star, if that makes sense – it just quietly delivers on what matters.

Reviews

  • Simonae from Romania – 2 May 2025 (9/10)

We arrived late in the night from the airport and we appreciated the 24/7 reception and also the location close to the S1 S-bahn. Excellent breakfast. The double bed is very comfortable.

What could be improved: The additional bed was pretty small and a bit uncomfortable. Even though we only stayed for one night at the hotel, at 8 AM someone from housekeeping knocked loudly on our door and woke us up. It's true that we hadn't put the DND sign on the door, but we were there for only one night and arrived very late, so housekeeping service was not expected.

  • Franciszek from Czech Republic – 23 April 2025 (8/10)

    24h Reception
    Breakfast was delicious

What could be improved: The room smells not so fresh for the first look.
After we open windows all was ok.
    Breakfast for 18€ – expensive.

  • Pooja from Netherlands – 11 April 2025 (9/10)

Very convenient location, close to U bahn, bus stops, grocery stores, restaurants etc

  • Cormac from Ireland – 6 April 2025 (9/10)

Clean, spacious. I couldn't fault it. I'd like milk for the tea though.

  • Grzegorz from Poland – 24 February 2025 (9/10)

Convienient location, very good breafast. Hotel is very clean. Beds are comfortable.

What could be improved: Wifi works with disruptions.

  • Magela from United States – 28 January 2025 (8/10)

We really enjoyed our stay even thought it was short. The rooms are very nice and well equipped, and the beer garden in front of the hotel is very good! The receptionist suggested to have a late lunch there and it was delicious.

What could be improved: It would be nice if parking was included or a little less expensive, but I understand it’s a little complicated in big cities

  • Adrian from Romania – 22 January 2025 (9/10)

Good location, near the Moosach subway and S-bahn station; easy to go to the town's center, and also to the airport.

Delicious breakfast, with large variety and of very good quality; and even champagne! The serving area during breakfast was a little small; the food was finishing quickly, when many people arrived all at once; but they always replenished it every time…

Nice view, even in the back of the hotel!

the room was spacious, clean, with nice carpet and a table for the laptop and mini-bar. Of course it had a large tv and wireless and so on. Everything was as we expected! we liked that the room's temperature was nice (we came from Salzburg, where we stayed in a hotel, where it was too cold).

In the immediate vicinity, there is an italian super-market and a burger house (DELICIOUS); and at least 6 or 7 restaurants cand be found a few hundred meters away. And near the subway station, there is also a Kaufland.

when we return to Munchen, we will try to check-in here again, for sure.

    The price was reasonable, too!

What could be improved: They asked when we wanted to clean the room: daily of every other day; we opted for every 2 days, but they did not clean it, and didn't change our towels; even if we left the room every day, to go the town's center, at christmas market, at the Bavariaring and other places… but this is not a problem, since they were not dirty 🙂
However, we would have liked if they cleaned the bathroom floor, of water and hair, but they did not…

On the last day, we had to leave very early, before breakfast time, in order to arrive at the airport 🙂 in time…
I think that every hotel that offers breakfast should have an "option" for people leaving early: if they announce in advance (at check-in, or during the day before leaving) that they are leaving early, the hotel should prepare 2 sandwiches for each guest, to take with them, so they can eat on the train or plane…
