Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Leonardo Hotel Muenchen City West, you immediately get that feeling of “okay, this works” — it’s one of those four-star places that doesn’t try too hard but gets the basics absolutely right. The lobby has a clean, modern vibe without being sterile, and honestly, the staff seemed genuinely happy to see guests rather than just going through the motions. I mean, you can tell within the first five minutes whether a hotel has its act together, and this one definitely does.
The Sendling Advantage
Here’s what I love about staying in Sendling — you’re actually in Munich without being stuck in the tourist chaos of Marienplatz. The neighborhood feels real, you know? There’s a great mix of locals grabbing coffee and families heading to the nearby parks. You can walk to the Isar River in about ten minutes (perfect for morning jogs), and getting into the city center takes maybe 15 minutes on public transport. Couples especially seem to get this location — they’ve rated it 8.8, which honestly makes sense because it’s got that sweet spot of being accessible but not overwhelming.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d expect from a solid four-star — clean lines, comfortable bed, and a bathroom that actually had decent water pressure. Nothing fancy, but everything worked properly, which is more than I can say for some places I’ve stayed. The windows are well-insulated too, so you don’t get the street noise that can be an issue in busier parts of Munich. There’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped, and the WiFi actually reaches every corner of the room (small victory, but it matters).
Morning Fuel
The breakfast buffet is where this place really shines — and I’m usually pretty skeptical about hotel breakfasts. They’ve got the German classics covered (proper bread, good cold cuts, decent coffee), but also enough variety that you won’t get bored if you’re staying multiple nights. The restaurant area gets good natural light in the morning, which makes starting your day feel less institutional. Pro tip: they seem to restock the fresh fruit pretty regularly, so don’t settle for the sad-looking stuff if you arrive early.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t the kind of place that’s going to blow your mind with innovative design or over-the-top amenities. What it does is deliver exactly what most travelers actually need — a comfortable base in a great location with reliable service and fair pricing. The parking situation is sorted if you’re driving (which can be a real headache in Munich), and you’re close enough to everything that matters without paying the premium for being right in the thick of things. Sometimes the best hotels are the ones that just work without any drama, and that’s exactly what you get here.

Guest Reviews
Well situated near u bahn, supermarkets, bakeries.
Very clean and comfortable.
What could be improved: The hotplates didn't get hot enough to boil water for pasta.
Comfortable, clean, friendly girl on reception, free apples and cookies in the entrance 😂
What could be improved: There was construction on the metro lines U3/U6, and it was quite difficult to reach downtown. We needed to take a bus first and then the subway, but no one from the hotel told us that. So, our first trip to downtown was quite confusing because we expected to travel five stops by subway, but after three stops, the subway went back.
Location ideal for Sendlinger HP8 Cultural Centre, Underground trains and bus services. Staff helpful and spoke English if needed. Very comfortable room which included a room safe which was handy for storing any valuables. There was also a micro-wave oven and electric hob, but oddly no utensils or crockery to facilitate cooking which was my only negative point. Room was on the ground floor with a Patio door out to a pleasant outdoor garden with seating area where smoking was permitted. A very relaxed stay.
What could be improved: No provision of utensils or crockery to enable use of micro-wave and electric hob which seemed a bit odd. A little disappointed that no evening meals were available despite a very well appointed bar and dining area.
Very good breakfast, good cofee, even if it is from an automatic machine. Kind personnels, great shower, quality towels. Metro station is on the corner, only 4 stops to downtown. Leonardo is a very good budget hotel chain.
What could be improved: None
Location. Very convenient to us, near train station and several places to eat.
What could be improved: The room was a bit small to fit 3 people. The double bed in the corner was in fact 2 single beds that were not attached, so sometimes, to go to the bed in the corner, the other bed moves and there was a gap in the middle. Not nice.
Location is excellent 50m of the metro, 7min to Marienplatz, breakfast is very good, nice staff, clean, calm.
What could be improved: Maybe one thing for safety i didn’t like about main door that was no lock during night (at least to 2am) hours and noone on reception so easy can anyone stranger go inside
Extremely quiet room (facing an inner courtyard), with very comfortable beds. The temperature was just right and it could be adjusted anyway. There was a free bottle of water, which was a nice touch, coffee capsules and teabags. The room had a mini-kitchen with sink, stove and coffee machine. I don't think I've ever slept so well in a hotel. Just a few steps away from Gasteig HP8 and the Isarphilharmonie, and practically on top of the U3 metro station. Great value for money.
Very comfortable room. Very good location near Underground Station. Friendly staff.
What could be improved: Parking?
Good check in, comfy bedroom. Super location above the U-Bahn. Very good breakfast.
Very close to the train station, clean, great amenities, and the balcony was nice.
What could be improved: No AC and a little overpriced for what it was.
