Hotel Description
Honestly, when I first pulled up to Laimer Hof am Schloss Nymphenburg, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place – but you know what? Sometimes the unassuming spots end up surprising you. This little hotel sits right in Munich’s Neuhausen district, and I mean *right* by Nymphenburg Palace, which is actually pretty incredible when you think about it. You’re basically staying where Bavarian royalty used to hang out, except now you can do it without the whole “being nobility” requirement.
The thing that struck me most was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re still technically in the city. I guess being tucked away in this residential pocket near the palace grounds creates this weird bubble of calm – well, except for the occasional tram rumbling by, but honestly that sound kind of grew on me. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 3-star – clean, comfortable beds, nothing fancy but everything works. I appreciated that they didn’t try to oversell what they are, you know? The staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood really well too, which made a difference. When I asked about getting to the English Garden, the guy at the front desk didn’t just point me toward the tourist route – he told me about this shortcut through the palace gardens that cuts like ten minutes off the walk.
What really makes this place work is the location, and I don’t mean that in the generic “convenient location” way travel sites always say. I mean you can literally walk to one of Munich’s most stunning palaces in about two minutes, but you’re also connected to the rest of the city without dealing with all the tourist chaos around Marienplatz. The 7.7 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it does exactly what it promises. Parking was easier than I expected for Munich, which honestly might be worth the stay alone if you’re driving. The breakfast was pretty standard continental stuff, but they had decent coffee and the dining room has these windows that look out toward the palace grounds, so you’re starting your day with a view that would cost twice as much in other parts of the city. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I wanted to explore that side of Munich more thoroughly – there’s something nice about ending your day somewhere that feels more like a neighborhood than a tourist zone.

I love the Laimer Hof. I love the location, walkable to the Schloss and with great restaurants, but in a quiet neighborhood. I love the huge and eclectic family rooms with tons of space for a great price. I love love love the excellent breakfast and the friendly, helpful staff. Hot shower. Excellent soap. The Laimer Hof is our place to stay in Munich.
What could be improved: Be aware: stairs. Street parking but it is easy enough. Be aware: eclectic, old furniture. That's part of what we love. Not fussy. A bit faded but elegant.Christina from Netherlands – 26 February 2025 (9/10)
Value for money at Hotel Laimer Hof in Munich is exceptional. Everything is very clean and the bed was super comfortable. You can regulate your own heating, open the windows wide or just a little, everything works. I will definitely go back!

Comfy beds, great shower, friendly staff, great location
What could be improved: The heating was very hot even on low setting so we had to have windows open which made it drafty, but really not a big issueJuan from China – 8 August 2024 (8/10)
The location is good and the surroundings are very quiet
What could be improved: The facility is a little bit old, and the floor makes sounds when walking aroundKatrin from United States – 4 August 2024 (8/10)
Good location, Nice old building, Good breakfast.
What could be improved: We asked for twin beds which might have been a mistake because it was a very small room.Xi from China – 24 June 2024 (9/10)

What could be improved: I understand it’s an old building, so you have to carry your luggage by yourself by staircase. It might cause some noise for other guestsLuz from France – 10 June 2024 (9/10)
Excellent breakfast, very helpful and friendly staff. Excellent location.
What could be improved: The double bed was lower in the middle than at the edges.
