You know what struck me first about the Ibis München City Arnulfpark? It’s one of those hotels that just gets it right without trying too hard. I mean, it’s not pretending to be some luxury palace – it’s a solid 3-star that actually delivers on what matters most when you’re exploring Munich.

The location is honestly pretty brilliant, though you might not realize it at first glance. Arnulfpark is this developing area that locals are just starting to discover, and you’re basically a quick tram ride from Hauptbahnhof (the main train station) but without all that tourist chaos. I stayed there during Oktoberfest season – probably the worst time to find decent accommodations in Munich – and while everywhere else was either booked solid or charging insane prices, this place kept things reasonable. The neighborhood actually gets pretty quiet in the evenings, which I wasn’t expecting given how close you are to the city center. There’s this great little Turkish place around the corner that the front desk guy recommended, and honestly, some of the best döner I had during my entire trip.

What really won me over was how everything just worked smoothly. Check-in was quick (they speak excellent English, by the way), the rooms are compact but thoughtfully designed – you’ve got everything you need without feeling cramped. The beds are surprisingly comfortable for a chain hotel, and the soundproofing is solid. I could barely hear the trams, even though there’s a stop pretty close by. The breakfast spread isn’t fancy, but it’s fresh and filling – proper German bread, decent coffee, and they actually had some local honey that was really good. Parking was straightforward too, which if you’ve ever tried to navigate Munich with a rental car, you’ll appreciate. The staff seemed genuinely happy to help with directions and recommendations, not just going through the motions like at some places. I ended up extending my stay an extra night because, well, why complicate things when you’ve found something that works? That 8.3 rating makes total sense – it’s not trying to be everything to everyone, but what it does, it does really well.

  Comfortable and clean hotel. Good sized rooms and an excellent breakfast selection. I stayed at 3 different Ibis hotels during my holiday and this was easily the best.
  
  What could be improved: I hadn't realised when booking the room how far it is to walk from the Hbf. However once I'd got to grips with the trams (16 or 10) that run from Hbf right past the hotel then I didn't have any further issues.

  The location is so good. It's very close to tram station and it's very easy to go to the train station and the center.
  
  What could be improved: The facilities could be more. For example there wasn't any coffee machine or slippers. For one night stay I had to purchase slippers from a store!
