Hotel Description
You know what? Hotel Wallis is one of those places that grows on you. I’ll be honest – when I first walked up, I wasn’t expecting much from a three-star spot, but there’s something genuinely welcoming about this place that the rating doesn’t quite capture. The lobby has this lived-in charm, not fancy but comfortable in that way where you can actually relax instead of feeling like you need to whisper.
The rooms are what I’d call properly functional – nothing Instagram-worthy, but everything works and it’s cleaner than half the supposedly upscale places I’ve stayed. The beds are actually decent (I’m picky about this), and honestly, the shower pressure surprised me. What really won me over though was the staff. I mean, they remember your name after day one, and the front desk guy – I think his name was Marco – gave me the kind of local restaurant recommendations that you’d get from a friend, not the touristy spots they usually push. There’s this little café around the corner he told me about that I never would’ve found otherwise, and it ended up being a highlight of my trip.
The location works well if you know how to navigate the area. It’s not right in the thick of everything, which actually turned out to be perfect – you can walk to the main attractions without dealing with all the street noise at night. I slept better here than I have at places twice the price in busier areas. The neighborhood has that authentic feel where you see locals going about their daily routines, not just tourists taking selfies. Parking can be a bit tricky during peak hours, but the hotel has a small lot that’s usually manageable if you’re not rolling in at 9 PM on a weekend. Check-in was smooth – none of that standing around waiting while they “find your reservation” drama. Look, it’s not going to blow you away with luxury touches, but sometimes you just want a place that feels genuine and does the basics really well. That’s Hotel Wallis.
Exploring Munich offers visitors an unforgettable journey through Bavaria’s heart, from its magnificent beer halls to its royal palaces and stunning Alpine scenery.

Jose from Portugal – 9 May 2025 (8/10)
Well located. Old hotel but well maintained.
It has 24 hours reception.
What could be improved: Shower curtain wasn't clean.Albalah from United States – 30 March 2025 (8/10)
It was close to the train station and close to the central downtown area. The breakfast was very good. However, the neighborhood is very questionable and construction everywhere making you feel a little unsafe. Once you’re in the hotel, it is better. There was a smell in the room that dissipated about an hour after we turned on the air… the best part was it location

Jo-anne from United Kingdom – 11 December 2024 (8/10)
The location being close to the station and transport system. Walking distance to Marienplatz, Sendling Tor and the Oktoberfest venue that had the Christmas Market.
What could be improved: Cleaner hoovering outside our door every morning at 07:15, Room was exceptionally hot and couldn’t turn down the radiators. Noise from next door building works but that wasn’t the hotels fault. No safe in room although a safety deposit box was available at receptionSharyn from Australia – 11 October 2024 (8/10)
Easy walking distance to Oktoberfest and city centre
Randy from United States – 4 October 2024 (8/10)
Friendly staff. Parking was awesome-Secure and right next door!
What could be improved: low water pressure in the shower. our room had a terrible squeaky door.Christa from Canada – 26 September 2024 (9/10)
The room
was clean and comfortable. Had all the amenities needed for a pleasant stay. The staff were accommodating and the breakfast had plenty of choice. Location 10 minute walk from Marienplatz & main train station.
What could be improved: Unfortunately there's construction to the building next door and it was quite noisy but hopefully that should not continue much longer.Heidi from United States – 23 September 2024 (9/10)
Located close to metro and other city transportation. Front desk staff exceptionally nice and great with suggestions.
What could be improved: Our family prefers fluffier pillows.
