You know what struck me first about Hotel Villa Solln? It’s one of those places that doesn’t try too hard to impress you, but somehow ends up doing exactly that. I mean, sure, it’s officially a 3-star property, but honestly – and I’ve stayed at plenty of overpriced 4-stars that couldn’t touch this place – there’s something refreshingly genuine about how they run things here. The lobby has this lived-in elegance, sort of like staying at your well-traveled aunt’s house if she happened to have impeccable taste and a knack for making guests feel welcome without being overly fussy about it.

The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully simple. No marble bathrooms or unnecessary chandeliers, but everything works perfectly and the beds are actually comfortable (you’d be surprised how many hotels mess this basic thing up). What really won me over was the attention to small details – proper reading lights, enough outlets where you actually need them, and windows that open wide enough to get real fresh air flowing through. The staff has this low-key professionalism that feels authentic rather than scripted. During check-in, the front desk guy gave me genuinely useful local tips without that rehearsed tourism-board spiel most places default to. And here’s something that might matter if you’re traveling with luggage: they’ll actually help carry your bags without making it feel like you’re inconveniencing them or like they’re expecting a massive tip for basic courtesy.

What keeps bringing me back – because yes, I’ve stayed here multiple times now – is how the place manages to feel both relaxing and energizing. Maybe it’s because they’ve found that sweet spot between being centrally located without sitting right on a busy street where you’re hearing traffic all night. The neighborhood has this authentic local feel, with actual residents going about their daily routines rather than just tourist crowds shuffling between attractions. Breakfast is served until a reasonable hour (not one of those brutal 9 AM cutoffs), and while it’s not an elaborate buffet situation, what they do offer is fresh and satisfying. I actually look forward to their coffee – which, coming from someone who’s particular about coffee, says something. The 8.6 rating this place gets makes perfect sense to me. It’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in the city, but it delivers consistently on the things that actually matter when you’re traveling: comfort, cleanliness, helpful service, and that intangible feeling that you’ve chosen well.

  Very quiet, beautiful place , garden for breakfast or just enjoy the weather….clean, a good breakfast, snacks in the lobby all day. Very nice staff

  The staff were very kind and helpful, and best of all, the hotel was super quiet! The bed was also extremely comfortable.
  
  What could be improved: This location might be better for people with a car than people relying on public transportation (especially for carrying large luggage). The nearest metro station is about 20 min walk away, and there is also a bus that stops near the property.

  My stay was very comfortable! This hotel is super clean and quiet, located in a nice residential neighborhood in Munich. I arrived during Oktoberfest so I booked a small single room, but the owner upgraded it to a very nice 2-bedroom suite for the first 2 nights of my 5-night stay. The breakfast was good. The only thing to observe is that there is a 30-40 minute drive to the city (which I don’t mind because I like to sleep in a peaceful/quiet place while I travel). There is a bus on the corner that will take you to the subway station. My Uber ride to Oktoberfest was 19 euro. The owner Mrs. Ursula was very helpful, and so were the girls Ana Lucia and Joana!

  This is a wonderful hotel. Lovely rooms, friendly staff and perfect breakfast. We will definitely stay here again.

  The neighborhood was shady and had lots of walkable areas. The hotel had a nice small complimentary snack area. The area was peaceful with lots of song birds singing in the morning. The staff were friendly and the hotel was very clean.
  
  What could be improved: It had an Italian restaurant two houses down but everything else was a little bit of a walk away. This didn't bother us because we had our car.
