Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Hotel Opera? It’s one of those places that feels like it actually belongs in its neighborhood instead of trying to dominate it. I mean, sure, it’s a solid 4-star property with all the things you’d expect, but there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole experience.

The lobby hits that sweet spot between elegant and welcoming – you’re not intimidated walking in wearing jeans, but you also feel like you’re staying somewhere special. Check-in was smooth (honestly, faster than I expected for a Friday evening), and the staff genuinely seemed to know the area well. When I asked about dinner recommendations, the desk clerk didn’t just hand me a generic list – she actually asked what I was in the mood for and suggested a couple of spots that locals frequent. That 8.5 rating makes perfect sense once you spend some time here; it’s the kind of place that does the fundamentals really well without trying to be flashy about it.

The rooms are thoughtfully designed – not huge, but everything has its place, and the beds are legitimately comfortable. What I appreciated most was the attention to sound control; you’re not dealing with paper-thin walls or street noise keeping you up at night. The bathrooms are well-appointed without being over-the-top, and honestly, the water pressure is better than what I have at home. Little touches like decent lighting for actually reading and enough outlets near the bed show they’ve thought about how people really use hotel rooms. Breakfast service runs efficiently without feeling rushed, and they’ve got options beyond the usual continental spread – though I’d still recommend exploring the local café scene if you have time. The neighborhood itself is walkable, and you’re close enough to main attractions without being in the thick of tourist chaos. Parking can be a bit tricky during busy periods (like most places in the area), but the hotel staff can point you toward reliable options nearby. Overall, it’s the kind of place I’d book again without hesitation – comfortable, well-run, and honest about what it offers.

Hotel Opera is your perfect Munich hideaway when traveling. Beautifully appointed. Perfectly located. Tucked away in the Lehel neighborhood, Hotel Opera is a secret meant to be shared. No chaotic breakfast buffets, but a white-table cloth fruhstuck. Comfortable rooms. Lots of hot water. Sound-sleeping beds. And superbly attentive, knowledgeable staff.

  • Jean from France – 22 April 2025 (9/10)

    Almost everything except for Parking

    What could be improved: Parking

  • Ilan from Israel – 5 April 2025 (8/10)

The area. The staff. Breakfast. The public area and the court. The area as far as I concern is prime location, good restaurants and coffee shops, no cars area, daily open market at the church Square.

What could be improved: We stayed at the junior suite. 650 Euro per night. For the price we paid, I expected-
    1. A coffee machine
    2. At least a kettle
3.Tv was broken. As it happened on Friday, had to Waite until Monday for a new one.
4.cover of the extra bed was torn.
5.huge walking in dressing room. Tiny bathroom
6.bath tub instead of shower. If you provide a bath tub please use glass sheet instead of an old style plastic curtain if you provide a bath tub please provide
a safety grip handle. It is a must.
    7. Learnt that no bathroom photos at the hotel site –
    means problems

  • Arne from Norway – 18 March 2025 (9/10)

    Professional, quality, feeling welcome
    Nice flowers!
    Breakfast very good
If coming back to Munich, you will be my choice

  • Lili from Bulgaria – 4 March 2025 (8/10)

Hotel with excellent location and cleanliness. Staff polite and helpful.
We arrived with a late flight and were accommodated immediately.

What could be improved: We paid an additional amount for breakfast, which no one initially warned us about.

  • Kim from Ireland – 31 January 2025 (8/10)

Staff kind and helpful. Facilitated an early check in when I explained my son had been travel sick on plane.

What could be improved: Shower over bath which didn’t work properly. Would expect proper shower in 4 star hotel

  • Catherine from Australia – 4 January 2025 (9/10)

The old world glamour and charm. The staff were wonderful and the breakfasts divine.

  • Justine from United Kingdom – 23 December 2024 (8/10)

Beautiful building, good location about ten mins walk from Marienplatz, mostly very clean (so many mirrors!), comfortable bed and pillows, staff very helpful, shining star of this accommodation was the breakfast which was just beautiful and amazing service.

What could be improved: No proper curtain just a heavy net, ok for winter but would be a problem in the summer, no tea and coffee facilities in room, bath v tiny and shower just a shower head not attached to wall. Would have expected these things to be better for this price.

  • Lior from Israel – 23 December 2024 (7/10)

Breakfast and dining room staff were excellent.

What could be improved: Room 47 was very small and uncomfortable. The room included a winter garden which was way too cold to use. No proper cupboards for 6 nights.
Price was too high for such a room.

  • Patty from United States – 13 December 2024 (8/10)

What could be improved: Antiquated plumbing in bathroom!
