You know what caught me off guard about Hotel New Orly? The name had me expecting some generic airport hotel vibe, but this place actually has character. When I first walked into the lobby, there’s this understated elegance going on – not trying too hard to impress, but clearly someone put thought into the details. The lighting’s warm, not that harsh fluorescent stuff you get at chain hotels, and honestly, the whole atmosphere feels more like a boutique property than your typical 4-star.

I mean, let’s be real – an 8.2 rating tells you most people are walking away happy, and I get why. The rooms have this lived-in comfort that’s hard to fake, with thick curtains that actually block out light (trust me, as someone who’s dealt with paper-thin hotel curtains, this matters). The beds are properly firm without being rocks, and there’s enough space to actually unpack without feeling like you’re playing Tetris with your suitcase. What really impressed me though was the attention to sound – the walls are solid, so you’re not hearing every conversation in the hallway or your neighbor’s TV at midnight.

The staff here seem to actually know the area, which is refreshing. Instead of just pointing you toward the obvious tourist spots, they’ll suggest that little café two blocks over where locals grab coffee, or mention which metro entrance saves you five minutes of walking. Check-in was smooth – no standing around for twenty minutes while they “find your reservation” – and they’re genuinely helpful without being overly chatty when you’re clearly tired from traveling. Honestly, it’s those small things that separate a decent stay from one you’d actually recommend to friends. The whole place has this calm efficiency that makes you feel like you can just settle in and enjoy your trip instead of constantly managing hotel logistics.

  Clean, location close to train station, friendly staff, room was ready before which for us was a plus.
