Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Hotel München Palace, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical Munich hotel. The five-star property sits quietly on Trogerstraße in Au-Haidhausen, and honestly, that’s part of its charm — you’re away from the tourist crowds but still perfectly positioned to explore the city. The lobby strikes that perfect balance between elegant and welcoming, with staff who actually seem to remember returning guests (and there are quite a few of them, which tells you something). Every detail has been thoughtfully curated to create an atmosphere of refined comfort.
The Neighborhood Advantage
Au-Haidhausen is one of those Munich districts that locals love but tourists often overlook, which works entirely in your favor. You’re a pleasant walk from the city center, but you get to experience a more authentic side of Munich — think traditional beer gardens mixed with trendy cafes and actual Müncheners going about their daily lives. The area feels residential yet vibrant, and couples consistently rate the location a 9.3, so they’re clearly onto something good here. This neighborhood offers the perfect blend of local character and modern convenience.
Sleep Quality That Actually Matters
Let’s talk about something that can make or break any trip — the beds. Hotel München Palace has earned serious recognition for their sleeping comfort, and after experiencing it firsthand, I get why guests keep mentioning this. The rooms themselves blend classic European elegance with modern functionality, though what really impressed me was the attention to sound insulation. You know how city hotels can be noisy? Not an issue here, even with windows facing the street. The commitment to rest and relaxation is evident in every aspect of the sleeping experience.
Practical Perks
The private parking situation is honestly a game-changer if you’re driving in Munich — finding parking in this city can be a nightmare, so having a guaranteed spot removes one major travel headache. The hotel’s location also means you can easily walk to public transport when you want to venture into the Altstadt or catch a train to nearby attractions. What I particularly appreciated was how the staff seemed genuinely knowledgeable about the neighborhood, offering restaurant recommendations that felt personal rather than scripted. These practical considerations enhance the overall guest experience significantly.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something to be said for a hotel that earns repeat visitors, and Hotel München Palace clearly has that figured out. The combination of excellent sleep quality, a prime location that feels authentically Munich, and service that strikes the right professional-yet-personal note creates an experience that’s hard to replicate. You’re getting upscale amenities without the stuffiness, plus you’re positioned in a part of Munich that gives you both local flavor and easy access to everything else. It’s the kind of place where you actually look forward to returning at the end of a day exploring the city. The hotel represents a sophisticated choice for discerning travelers.

Guest Reviews
The decor
The property was beautifully maintained and comfortable.
The staff are very friendly and attentive to any requests. There was very little waiting time for room service and everything arrived hot and well prepared. Our balcony was particularly pleasant overlooking a pretty garden. We were very comfortable and happy with our stay!
What could be improved: We liked everything
Great location, very clean, good size rooms
Convenience to Marienplatz
The hotel has a sort of faded elegance, which is nice ... it's not pizzazz but it's comfy enough ... all the staff were very helpful - they were the best feature, actually.
What could be improved: No complaints, exactly, but I was expecting a bit more sparkle.
I'm really glad to have found this place. I need to travel to Munich quite frequently, and this place feels like a home away from home. The glory is in the details. From the instant hot water in the shower to the silent air conditioning and heating, it's the things you don't notice that really make the difference here.
The staff is amazing, and the location could not be any better.
On top of all of that, the bar is a real gem. Wolfgang, the Barkeeper, is a legend.
I'll be a regular guest from now on, for sure. My search is over.
What could be improved: The restaurant is unfortunately overpriced, and doesn't always deliver quality wise.
Wine and drinks choices are superb, but the food leaves a lot of room for improvement.
From what I've heard, though, this is all subject to change, they are currently renovating and a new chef will take over.

Room was very comfortable, and the train station was within 10 minutes walking.
What could be improved: We never got shown to our rooms when our room was ready. Just how to get to our room… didn’t show us the bar area or anything. I’ve never been to a 5 star hotel that didn’t offer late night food. Beyond surprised it has this kind of rating without the concierge and restaurant with minimal hours. We most likely will not be back. We travel every 30 days to luxury hotels around the world… and I was a bit confused by this one.
breakfast was great with the price typical for a Five Star Hotel.
Staff is exceptional, like in a Five Star Hotel.
Location is quiet, but a bit inconvenient for Munich Center
What could be improved: One elevator. This could be an issue when the hotel is fully booked.
Best to reach by taxi a limo
