You know what struck me first about Hotel MIO? It’s got this effortless cool factor that doesn’t try too hard – which honestly is refreshing when you’ve stayed at places that are all style and no substance. The AMANO group really knows what they’re doing with this concept, and even though it’s technically a 3-star property, it punches way above its weight class.

The whole vibe feels like someone took a boutique hotel and made it actually accessible. I mean, the design is clean and modern without being sterile – think Scandinavian minimalism but warmer, with these great pops of color that show up in unexpected places. The rooms are compact but smart about it, with everything you actually need positioned exactly where it makes sense. The bed situation is solid (I’m picky about mattresses), and there’s something satisfying about how they’ve maximized the space without making you feel cramped. What I really appreciated was the lighting – they’ve got multiple sources so you’re not stuck with harsh overhead fluorescents or trying to read by a single bedside lamp.

Check-in was smooth, no drama, and the staff actually seems to know the neighborhood well enough to give useful recommendations beyond the usual tourist traps. The common areas have this lived-in quality that makes you want to hang out with a coffee or work on your laptop – there’s usually a good mix of business travelers and leisure folks, but it never feels chaotic. Honestly, the 8.6 rating makes total sense once you spend a night there. It’s one of those places that gets the fundamentals right and then adds just enough personality to be memorable. The shower pressure is excellent (seriously, why is this so rare?), and I never had issues with noise from other rooms or the street. Breakfast is simple but well-executed – fresh pastries, decent coffee, and they don’t try to overcomplicate things with a massive buffet that’s mostly filler. If you’re looking for something that feels more authentic than a chain hotel but won’t break the bank like those precious boutique places that charge extra for everything, this hits that sweet spot perfectly.

  Great location and comfortable room, the reception staff were very friendly, we had a really good stay. Breakfast was fantastic, good selection of pastries, bread, yogurt alongside freshly cooked eggs.
