Overview
You know what? Hotel Mariahilf München is one of those places that grows on you. I’ll be honest – when I first walked in, I wasn’t blown away by the lobby or anything, but there’s something genuinely comfortable about this 3-star spot that kept me coming back on my Munich trips.
The thing about staying here is you’re really in the heart of things without the tourist circus. Mariahilf is this fantastic neighborhood where actual Munich residents live and work, and you’ll find yourself wandering streets lined with those classic Bavarian buildings that haven’t been turned into souvenir shops yet. I mean, you can walk to the city center easily enough, but honestly, some of my best meals happened just by ducking into the little gasthauses within a few blocks of the hotel. The staff here actually knows the area – like, they’ll tell you which U-Bahn entrance to use to avoid crowds, or mention that the bakery two streets over opens at 6 AM if you’re an early riser like me.
What I really appreciated was how the hotel feels… well, unpretentious. The rooms aren’t fancy, but they’re properly sized (rare for European city hotels) and the beds are actually comfortable – none of that rock-hard mattress situation you sometimes get. The bathrooms are updated enough that you’re not dealing with ancient plumbing, and the WiFi works throughout the building, which honestly matters more than marble countertops when you’re trying to plan your day. The breakfast setup is solid too – nothing Instagram-worthy, but decent coffee, fresh bread, and they usually have local cheeses that are way better than the processed stuff you get at chain places. I noticed they keep things pretty quiet after 10 PM, which is perfect if you’ve spent the day walking around Munich and just want to crash without hearing doors slamming in the hallway all night. The 7.3 rating makes sense to me – it’s not luxury, but it’s reliable and comfortable, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need when you’re more interested in exploring the city than hanging out in your room.

Guest Reviews
Family run hotel
What could be improved: The common areas and particularly stair carpets need a refresh
Very nice position, room was comfortable, good breakfast.
What could be improved: The curtains were very light, I couldn’t sleep because there was too much light from the street. Abat jour was not working.
Parking very close, good position, kind staff
Location was good
What could be improved: Room was old, and wifi was very very bad
Breakfast was tasty
Suite was quite large.
Very Clean
Extremely friendly staff
Great location
What could be improved: Outdated
Wifi was spotty
Location. Easy walk to tram or metro. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Friendly dogs.
What could be improved: The shower was difficult to keep water from leaking on to the floor. But that was our only issue. Not a big deal. They gave us dry towels every day
Loved the hostess, loved the view and loved the location
Super cosy hotel with very kind staff. I enjoyed all the different types of furniture and decoration. Location was excellent.
What could be improved: It’s part of going to Bavaria in summer but it was very, very hot. The room could do with a fan!
This was a really charming hotel, it’s an older building but the staff makes sure it’s comfortable and clean. Felt like I was staying at the Dragonfly Inn from Gilmore Girls! It’s not in the center but only a 20 min walk from old town. There’s also a cute patio in the back
What could be improved: The Wi-Fi was very sporadic which isn’t the best if you plan on relying on it for work or anything. The breakfast was okay
Welcomed by a very charming and friendly hostess. Comfortable room, close walk to old town.
What could be improved: Breakfast was not available.
