Overview
First Impressions
Hotel Ludwig sits quietly on Untermenzingerstr in the Moosach district, and honestly, it’s one of those places that surprises you in the best way. I mean, you’re not exactly in the heart of Munich’s tourist zone here, but that’s actually part of what makes it work. The three-star property has this understated charm — nothing flashy, just solid and welcoming. What really caught my attention was how couples seem to absolutely love this spot, rating the location a impressive 9.2 for romantic getaways.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s the thing about Moosach — it’s perfectly positioned if you know Munich at all. You’re far enough from the crowds to actually breathe, but the public transport connections are excellent (typical German efficiency, you know). The area has this residential feel that lets you experience Munich like locals do, rather than being stuck in tourist central. Recent guests have been rating the location 9.1, and after spending time here, I get why. There’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that feels authentically Munich without the inflated prices of the city center.
The Room Experience
The rooms at Hotel Ludwig are what I’d call thoughtfully simple — clean lines, comfortable beds, and everything you actually need without unnecessary frills. It’s clear they’ve put effort into the details that matter, like good lighting and decent storage space. The overall 8.3 rating reflects this approach well — guests appreciate when a hotel does the basics really well rather than trying to be something it’s not. You’ll sleep well here, and isn’t that really what matters most?
Breakfast & Dining
Now this is where Hotel Ludwig really shines — their breakfast setup is genuinely impressive for a three-star place. They’ve got continental options, Italian touches, and they actually cater to different dietary needs with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free choices. What I love is that they offer breakfast to go, which is perfect when you want to grab something quick and explore Munich early. It’s not just the variety though — the quality is there, and you can tell they care about this part of the experience.
Why Guests Love It
The free private parking is honestly a game-changer if you’re driving in Munich — try finding that in the city center without paying through the nose. But beyond the practical stuff, there’s something about Hotel Ludwig that just works. Maybe it’s the way they’ve managed to create a peaceful base while keeping you connected to everything Munich offers. The high ratings from couples suggest they’ve nailed that balance between comfort and location that makes a trip memorable. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it delivers on what actually matters to travelers.
Munich’s hotels showcase the perfect blend of Bavarian tradition and modern comfort, with many featuring brewery tour services and authentic Alpine hospitality.

Guest Reviews
We were greeted by the owner of the hotel - a polite and discreet man. The place was according to our expectations. The apartment is accessible by elevator. It has two separate bedrooms, a living room with a minimalist equipped kitchen, a bathroom with plenty of towels and free parking right in front of the hotel. Clean and pleasant place! The metro station is 250 meters away, from where you can quickly get to Odeonsplatz or Marienplatz. Recommend!
Family hotel, small and comfortable. Great location close to metro station. Very attentive staff.
Very affordable price compared to other hotels in the city
What could be improved: Breakfast is served in the room, perhaps due to the limited space available. It's enough, but there's not much variety.
Upon entering hotel we met Andrea who was friendly and informed us about Oktoberfest venues which was one of the reasons why we came to Munich. Soon after, we met Felix who was equally friendly. Our room was very comfortable, clean, quiet, and shower had plenty of hot water. The location was about five minutes walk to the metro/train station. Andrea & Felix recommended a wonderful restaurant. In short, we'd stay here again.
What could be improved: The only negative was the bathroom had a cigarette smell possibly due to venting system.
Room was spacious. Located very close to underground railway. Manager was helpful with suggestions on how to get to Octoberfest.
What could be improved: No mini fridge or in room safe.
We went to a concert at the Olympia Stadium and for that it was the perfect location, it's so close to the metro station.
The bed was comfortable.
The staff was very nice.
The parking was convenient.
What could be improved: You can hear the people in the other room very clearly because the bathroom wall is a fake wall.
Extremely pleasant hosts who provided very helpful information.
Very nice comfortable stay with easy links to the Munich trains and trams.
Very friendly staff and the room was clean. Looks like it was recently renovated. It is a good value for money for an short overnight stay int hat area of Munich. 3min walk to metro and train/bus.
Hotel was in a good location and staff greeted you warmly at the reception. The family apertment was well equipped and the wifi speed was good
What could be improved: Cutlery was a little outdated
Our hosts were very helpful. Clean room with a small kitchenette, which was good for saving money. Short walk under the train station to supermarket and shopping centre. Comfy beds and room cleaned daily.
What could be improved: Nothing.
