Hotel Kriemhild am Hirschgarten Overview
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Hotel Kriemhild am Hirschgarten – the name alone had me wondering if I’d need a German dictionary just to check in. But you know what? This little 3-star gem completely surprised me, and now I get why it’s sitting pretty with an 8.7 rating.
The thing about this place is its location near the Hirschgarten – and I mean, if you don’t know Munich well, that’s basically the world’s largest beer garden. We’re talking about a massive park where locals actually bring their families for Sunday afternoon beers and pretzels the size of steering wheels. The hotel sits in this perfectly quiet residential pocket where you can walk to all that Bavarian chaos in about ten minutes, but still get a decent night’s sleep without drunk tourists singing outside your window at 2 AM. The rooms themselves are what I’d call “comfortable without trying too hard” – clean, well-maintained, with that sort of understated German efficiency that just works. My shower had proper water pressure (always a gamble in older European hotels), and the bed was firm enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with a marshmallow all night.
What really won me over, though, was how the staff seemed to actually care about the place. Check-in was smooth, no pretentious attitude, and when I mentioned I was trying to figure out the best way to get to Nymphenburg Palace, the desk clerk pulled out an actual hand-drawn map with shortcuts that definitely weren’t in my guidebook. The breakfast setup – well, it’s not going to blow your mind, but there’s proper German bread, decent coffee, and they don’t rush you out the door if you want to linger over your meal while planning your day. I mean, for a 3-star property, they’re hitting way above their weight class here. The neighborhood itself is worth mentioning because it feels authentically Munich without being touristy. There’s a bakery two blocks down that opens ridiculously early and makes these apple pastries that locals line up for, and you’ll actually hear more German than English on the streets – which, let’s be honest, makes the whole experience feel more genuine. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle (this is Munich, after all), but the hotel has a few spots, and street parking isn’t impossible if you’re patient. The only real downside I noticed was that the walls aren’t exactly soundproof, so if you get stuck next to a family with energetic kids, you’ll know about it. But honestly, for the price point and that location, Hotel Kriemhild am Hirschgarten delivers exactly what it promises without any of the pretentious nonsense you sometimes get at fancier places.

Alex from United States – 7 April 2025 (9/10)
The owner was very friendly and welcoming. He explained all the required details for the stay and answered our questions. The room had 2 separate bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (one with a spa). Close proximity to the tram (5 min walking) and 15 min to the city center. The beds were very comfortable to sleep in.
What could be improved: The facility and the room look very outdated.Naomi from United Kingdom – 6 February 2025 (9/10)

First of all the hotel is located in a very nice and silent neighborhood. The hotel staff are very friendly and kind. The hotel has own parking area. Facility is quite enough and rooms are modern. The breakfast can be more diverse.

Great location outside of the centre with free on-site parking, easy access into town on the tram, and only 5 minutes walk to the biggest beer garden in the world!
What could be improved: We booked a suite for our family of 4 but only 2 coffee cups were provided (mind you, the kettle in the room was a nice surprise). The spa bath only had bubbles, no jets.Michael from United Kingdom – 22 December 2024 (9/10)
A very nice family run hotel with very helpful and polite propitiators in a lovely part of town. Local shops, transport links and attractions are all close by.
