Hotel Kriemhild am Hirschgarten Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Hotel Kriemhild am Hirschgarten, you immediately get that cozy neighborhood vibe that makes this place special. It’s tucked away on a quiet street in Neuhausen-Nymphenburg, and honestly, the location feels like a local secret. This three-star property doesn’t try to be flashy — instead, it nails that comfortable, welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to settle in for more than just one night.

The Neuhausen-Nymphenburg Advantage

Here’s what I love about staying in this part of Munich — you’re close enough to everything that matters, but far enough from the tourist chaos to actually breathe. The Hirschgarten, which is literally Europe’s largest beer garden, sits right nearby, and trust me, that’s where you’ll want to spend a lazy afternoon. You can walk to Nymphenburg Palace in about fifteen minutes, and the S-Bahn connections into the city center are actually pretty seamless. The neighborhood has this authentic Munich feel that you just don’t get when you’re staying right in Marienplatz.

Rooms and Comfort

The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d expect from a well-run three-star place — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged. Nothing fancy, but everything worked perfectly, and the bed was genuinely comfortable (which, let’s be honest, is what really matters after a long day of sightseeing). The staff clearly takes pride in maintaining the property, and it shows in those little details that make a difference. Free parking is available right at the hotel, which is honestly a huge relief if you’re driving in Munich — finding parking in this city can be a nightmare elsewhere.

Morning Fuel

The breakfast buffet here actually surprised me in the best way. It’s not some sad continental spread — they put real effort into offering a proper German breakfast with fresh bread, local meats and cheeses, and all the coffee you need to get moving. I mean, you’re not going to confuse it with a five-star hotel spread, but it’s hearty and fresh, and honestly, that’s exactly what you want before heading out to explore. The dining area has this warm, family-run feel that sets a nice tone for the day.

Why Guests Love It

What really makes this place work is how it balances location with value — you’re getting that prime Munich experience without paying tourist-trap prices. Couples especially seem to connect with the quieter neighborhood setting (they rate the location incredibly highly), and I can see why. There’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that feels more like a local’s Munich rather than the postcard version. The combination of easy city access, genuine neighborhood character, and that reliable German hospitality creates exactly the kind of base you want for exploring this incredible city.

  • Tshuler from United States – 10 May 2025 (9/10)

Great value with six parking free parking spots in Munich near Schloss Nymphenburg and an easy tram ride to Marienplatz.
Owner is very helpful and accommodating. Has tram tickets available and it is a short walk to one of two nearby stops. Easy walk to the Schloss. Visit is highly recommended.
Clean, comfortable room. Secondary road access so no street noise.
Easy drive if you need to get to MUC airport.

  • Siofra from Ireland – 14 April 2025 (9/10)

Centrally located with ease of access to Munich via the no. 16 or 17 tram. Great room , breakfast was great, and the team was really helpful .

  • Alex from United States – 7 April 2025 (9/10)

The owner was very friendly and welcoming. He explained all the required details for the stay and answered our questions. The room had 2 separate bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (one with a spa). Close proximity to the tram (5 min walking) and 15 min to the city center. The beds were very comfortable to sleep in.

What could be improved: The facility and the room look very outdated.

  • Naomi from United Kingdom – 6 February 2025 (9/10)

Excellent location just a short walk from a tram stop going direct to city centre and close to large park, great for walks, beer garden, activities.
Although very quiet and peaceful setting and no noise disturbance whilst in the hotel.
Room clean and comfortable and travel cot provided.
Nice bathroom with great rainfall shower.
    Relaxed & friendly atmosphere.
    Tasty continental breakfast available.
    Flexible check in.

What could be improved: Room decor slightly dated however very clean and well maintained so not an issue & bathroom was good with great shower.

  • Doğukan from Turkey – 31 January 2025 (9/10)

First of all the hotel is located in a very nice and silent neighborhood. The hotel staff are very friendly and kind. The hotel has own parking area. Facility is quite enough and rooms are modern. The breakfast can be more diverse.

  • Katharina from United Kingdom – 27 January 2025 (9/10)

    Cozy, family atmosphere

What could be improved: Check out times

  • Jennifer from Switzerland – 24 December 2024 (8/10)

Great location outside of the centre with free on-site parking, easy access into town on the tram, and only 5 minutes walk to the biggest beer garden in the world!

What could be improved: We booked a suite for our family of 4 but only 2 coffee cups were provided (mind you, the kettle in the room was a nice surprise). The spa bath only had bubbles, no jets.

  • Michael from United Kingdom – 22 December 2024 (9/10)

A very nice family run hotel with very helpful and polite propitiators in a lovely part of town. Local shops, transport links and attractions are all close by.

  • Marco from Italy – 10 December 2024 (9/10)

Excellent experience overall. Clean, large, cozy rooms and comfortable beds. The hotel is in a beautiful area, close to beergardens, nice restaurants, and the nymphenburg castle, and well connected with the city center. Great staff, very kind and helpful.
