You know what struck me first about Hotel GIO? The lobby actually feels like someone’s really stylish apartment rather than another sterile hotel entrance. There’s this warm lighting that hits just right in the evenings, and honestly, I found myself lingering there with coffee way longer than I planned to. The 4-star rating feels about right – it’s not trying to be some over-the-top luxury palace, but everything works the way it should, and the staff genuinely seems to care about getting the details right.

The rooms have this understated elegance that I really appreciated – clean lines without being cold, if that makes sense. What I loved most was how quiet everything stayed, even on weekends when you could tell the place was full. The beds are actually comfortable (you’d be surprised how many places mess this up), and the bathrooms have proper water pressure, which honestly made my day every morning. I mean, these might sound like small things, but when you’re traveling, it’s exactly these small things that make the difference between a good stay and one you’ll remember fondly.

Here’s the thing about Hotel GIO that sets it apart – the 8.2 rating reflects what you actually get, not some inflated expectation. The service feels personal without being intrusive, and there’s this attention to local touches throughout the property that shows they’re not just copying some corporate playbook. I noticed they stock local products in the minibar (at reasonable prices, surprisingly), and the concierge knew the area well enough to suggest places I wouldn’t have found on my own. Sure, it’s not perfect – the elevator can be a bit slow during busy check-in times, and the parking situation isn’t the most straightforward – but these feel like minor quirks rather than real problems. What really won me over was how the whole experience felt authentic. You’ll leave feeling like you discovered something worthwhile rather than just checking into another generic hotel.

Hotel in Munich booking should be done early, especially during Oktoberfest when the city hosts the world’s largest beer festival and cultural celebration.

  The property was clean and well located. It was a 20 minute walk to the city center but plenty of restaurants around.
  
  What could be improved: We had 3 people saying the, third person was on a pull out couch. It wasn’t the most comfortable but it was fine.

  Clean, good location next to U-bahn, out of hours check in worked well. The attached Italian restaurant looked nice although we didn't get chance to use it.
  
  What could be improved: The bathroom layout was a bit weird – just one sliding door shared between the shower and the toilet so you couldn't use both at the same time. Also, the basin was in the room, rather than the bathroom, and there was no plug.

  Our party had 3 rooms, and the hotel and all rooms were very clean and fresh. Great size, towels and toiletries provided. Breakfast was great. Lots of continental options, plus bacon and eggs. Location is fantastic. Everything is within walking distance, but if you do struggle to get around physically, the whole city transport system is second to none. Beautiful city, beautiful hotel and will stay again. Thanks.
  
  What could be improved: No kettle in the rooms, but that's just us English wanting a cup of tea when we wake. However, there are numerous teas and coffees in the lounge area you can take to your room.

  The location is very good, close to restaurants and metro only two stops from the centre.
  Very spacious and clean room.
  
  What could be improved: The double bed was two twins pushed together so it had a gap and felt like sleeping alone.
  The shower, toilet and sink are all separate with only one door for each and the sink in the main room which was strange but worked. Should be clearer in case you need more privacy
