Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Hotel Eder on Zweigstraße, you immediately get that feeling of stumbling upon something good without trying too hard. This three-star property sits quietly in Ludwigsvorstadt, and honestly, the unassuming entrance is part of its charm. There’s no flashy lobby or marble everywhere — just a clean, welcoming space that feels more like a well-run guesthouse than a corporate hotel. The staff actually remembers your name after the first day, which is rarer than you’d think in Munich.

Location That Actually Works

Here’s what I love about the location — you’re close enough to everything that matters but far enough from the tourist chaos to get some peace. Ludwigsvorstadt puts you within walking distance of the Hauptbahnhof, which means easy airport connections and day trips. The Oktoberfest grounds are practically next door if you’re visiting during the season, but even when it’s not festival time, this neighborhood has its own quiet energy. I mean, couples rate this spot 8.5 out of 10, and after spending time here, I get why — there are cozy cafés tucked into side streets and actual locals going about their business.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was simple but thoughtfully put together. Nothing fancy, but everything worked exactly as it should — good water pressure, reliable WiFi, and windows that actually open (you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case). The beds are comfortable enough that you’ll sleep well after a day of wandering around the city. What struck me was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re in the middle of Munich. The soundproofing is better than you’d expect for a three-star place, and the housekeeping team keeps everything spotless without being intrusive.

Breakfast Worth Getting Up For

The continental buffet breakfast surprised me — in a good way. It’s not just the usual sad pastries and instant coffee situation. They actually have decent bread, fresh fruit, and proper coffee that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around since yesterday. The breakfast room gets good morning light, and there’s usually a mix of business travelers and tourists, which creates a nice, relaxed atmosphere. You know what? Sometimes the simple things done well matter more than elaborate spreads that look impressive but taste like cardboard.

Why Guests Love It

Hotel Eder works because it doesn’t try to be something it’s not. It’s a solid, reliable place to stay that gets the basics right and throws in some genuine hospitality. The location score of 8.8 isn’t just numbers — it reflects how easy this place makes exploring Munich without the premium prices of staying right in the Altstadt. Whether you’re here for business, sightseeing, or just passing through, you’ll find yourself in a spot that feels authentically Munich rather than generically international. It’s the kind of place you’d recommend to friends without any caveats — just honest value in a city where that’s getting harder to find.

This hotel is a 5 minute walk from the central train station and about 5 minute walk to the Marienplatz.

What could be improved: Nothing. It’s a nice hotel in a great location and the staff were super friendly. They gave us good recommendations for “local”restaurants that aren’t overrun with tourists.
