You know what really caught me off guard about Hotel Deutsche Eiche? The name had me expecting some stuffy, traditional German place with heavy wooden furniture and schnitzel everywhere, but honestly, it’s got this surprisingly relaxed vibe that just works. I mean, it’s only rated three stars officially, but walking through the lobby, you’d think they were being modest – the 8.9 rating from actual guests makes way more sense once you’ve stayed there.

The rooms are what I’d call “thoughtfully simple” – nothing flashy, but everything you actually need is there and it works properly. And can I just say, thank god for hotels that understand decent water pressure and don’t have those tiny European shower stalls that make you feel like you’re washing in a phone booth. The beds are surprisingly comfortable too, which matters more than people think when you’re dealing with jet lag or just trying to get a good night’s sleep in an unfamiliar place. What really impressed me though was how quiet it stays at night – you know how some hotels sound like everyone’s having a party in the hallway at 2 AM? Not here.

The staff actually seem to know the neighborhood, which is rarer than it should be these days. When I asked about grabbing coffee nearby, the front desk guy didn’t just point me to the closest Starbucks (if there even was one) – he gave me directions to this little café around the corner that locals actually go to. Small thing, but it made me feel like I was getting the real experience rather than the tourist version. Check-in was smooth too, none of that “your room isn’t ready yet” nonsense even though I arrived pretty early. Look, I’m not saying this place is going to revolutionize your travel experience or anything, but sometimes you just want a hotel that does the basics really well without charging you luxury prices for the privilege. Deutsche Eiche gets that balance right – it’s the kind of place where you sleep well, the shower’s hot, and you’re not constantly worried about hidden fees or whether your stuff is safe. Plus, that 8.9 rating isn’t an accident; when nearly nine out of ten people leave happy, there’s usually a good reason for it.

  It's location, staff and decor. Restaurant downstairs, roof terrace bar. Staff very accommodating. Loved the outlook from my inside verandah; no traffic noise.

  Very clean!!! Good price for excellent location. Super friendly and helpful staff.

  Great location and modern apartments. Amazing service by the staff. Room was always tidied. Free mini bar was a great perk.
  
  What could be improved: Shower head was annoying to use, when they cleaned the shower they turned it to face the wall. And it’s like it didn’t want to stick out to face you once the water pressure was turned on. Bathroom exhaust fan stays on for a long time which is very loud. But overall if that’s the only downfalls I think this place is great.

  The location was fantastic. We were able to walk to everything in the center of town and it was conveniently located between two metro stations. We also were pleasantly surprised with the rooftop bar and welcome drinks.

  Everything about Deutsche Eiche was well above my expectation, their attention to detail, their courtesy to guests, great breakfasts, cleanliness of bathrooms and room( including a great shower recess )generous gifts of water, beer and coke in the fridge every morning, absolutely perfect location. I highly recommend this hotel, without reserve………Gavin

  What could be improved: Munich was rainy so was shut in most of the time I spent at hotel, I had my sunglasses on and walked right into glass panel door face first, my fault but didn’t realize door was closed.
