Overview
Hotel Carmen isn’t going to win any design awards, but honestly? That’s kind of what I like about it. When you first walk in, there’s this slightly worn lobby with those dark wooden chairs that have probably seen a thousand travelers – you know the kind I mean. The front desk staff actually remembers your name after the first day, which doesn’t happen at those big chain places.
What really surprised me was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re right in the middle of everything. I mean, you’ll hear the occasional car or late-night conversation drifting up from the street, but it’s not that constant city rumble that keeps you awake. The rooms are… well, they’re three-star rooms, so don’t expect marble bathrooms or anything fancy. But the beds are actually comfortable (I’m picky about this), and there’s decent water pressure in the shower. The AC works properly too, which – trust me – you’ll appreciate during the warmer months.
Here’s what I really appreciated though: they’ve got this small breakfast area where you can grab coffee and pastries in the morning, and the woman who runs it makes the best cortado I’ve had outside of a proper café. She’ll also give you directions to places that aren’t in the guidebooks if you ask nicely. The whole place has that family-run feel, even if it’s not technically a family business. You know what I mean? Like they actually care whether you have a good stay instead of just processing you through. Sure, the elevator’s a bit slow and sometimes the WiFi gets spotty on the higher floors, but for the price point, you’re getting solid value. It’s the kind of place where you feel like a person rather than a room number, and sometimes that matters more than thread count.

Guest Reviews
The breakfast is excellent - a good buffet with a selection of hot and cold foods, and healthy options. The room (I had a single) was basic and small, but perfectly functional. Not somewhere you'd want to spend a lot of time, but if you are looking for a comfortable place to sleep and get out in Munich, it's ideal.
What could be improved: The (single) room was small and basic, but very functional. The shower temperature was a bit fiddly, but once you found the right level the temperature and pressure was great. For the price, I found the facilities very good
Breakfast was great comfy bed great shower.
What could be improved: Little bit dated furniture but great condition and clean
Staff was courteous and pleasant. They had a good restaurant attached to the hotel. Excellent breakfast choices
What could be improved: Not a central location and too far from the airport.
Hotel is nearby metro station and as well as bus station (just five minutes walk).
Staff is good and helpful.
Rooms are clean and breakfast is good.

The staff were very friendly and the room had great cupboard space and a decent sized bathroom
