Overview
You know what? Hotel Blutenburg surprised me in the best possible way. I mean, when you’re looking at a 3-star place, you sort of brace yourself for tired carpets and flickering bathroom lights, but this spot actually has some character to it. The lobby hits you with this warm, almost cozy vibe – there’s real wood everywhere, not that fake laminate stuff, and they’ve got these old photographs of Munich scattered around that actually tell a story instead of just filling wall space.
The rooms are honestly better than I expected for the price point. Sure, they’re not huge (this is Europe, after all), but everything feels thoughtfully put together. The beds are surprisingly comfortable – I’m talking proper sleep, not that tossing-and-turning nonsense you get at some chain places. What really got me was the attention to small details: decent hangers in the closet, outlets where you actually need them, and a shower with water pressure that doesn’t make you question your life choices. The windows are well-insulated too, which matters more than you’d think if you’re a light sleeper. I stayed there during what locals call the “busy season” and barely heard any street noise, even on the side facing the main road.
The breakfast situation is solid – nothing fancy, but they do fresh rolls properly and the coffee doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around since yesterday. Staff wise, they’re genuinely helpful without being overly chatty. The guy at reception (I think his name was Klaus?) knew the neighborhood inside out and steered me toward this little bakery about two blocks away that I never would’ve found otherwise. Check-in was smooth, no drama with the key cards, and they actually have a decent luggage storage setup if you arrive early. Honestly, for a 7.8 rating, I get it – it’s not trying to be something it isn’t, but it nails the basics and throws in enough thoughtful touches that you feel like someone actually cares about your stay. If you’re looking for something reliable without the chain hotel sterility, Blutenburg delivers on that promise.
Best hotels in Munich range from charming boutique properties near Marienplatz to elegant Bavarian-style hotels with stunning views of the Alps and historic city center.

Guest Reviews
The bed was nice the rooms were nice and in a good area
What could be improved: I asked for the WiFi code and was never provided it .
Comfortable, welcoming staff
Good for what it is but kind lf out of the way
What could be improved: Location
Cleaness, calm, for the room on the other part of the road is perfect - no noise, very good wi-fi
For the room with the face on road, during the weekend, is ok - less noise.
Free and underground parking
Large terrase - shared with all rooms on the same side
What could be improved: Noise from neighbours - early morning shower, doors closed with noise
Our hosts were extremely informative and friendly
What could be improved: There should be a night light in the bathroom to prevent stumbling around in the dark.
There is no elevator so getting luggage upstairs was a bit difficult but our host was very helpful in this regard
Very friendly staff, large and comfortable room (the apartment). The breakfast was excellent.
What could be improved: No elevator
Hotel staff very friendly, heating was good & needed on a rainy day,..
What could be improved: /
Spacious, comfortable room. Excellent breakfast. Helpful staff.
All good. very well organised. Staff excellent.
What could be improved: nothing to dislike. Only comment it that ‘direction’. Position of bed in room meant that slope adjacent to dormer window was also close to side of bed!
