Overview
You know what? Hotel Am Nockherberg really surprised me. I mean, it’s tucked away in this residential part of Munich that most tourists never see, and honestly, that’s part of its charm. The name comes from the famous Nockherberg hill nearby – you might recognize it from those political Bavarian comedy shows they broadcast every year, but even if you don’t, the location gives you this authentic Munich feeling that’s hard to find in the city center hotels.
The place itself is pretty straightforward – it’s a solid 3-star that doesn’t try to be something it’s not. When I walked in, the lobby had that clean, no-nonsense German efficiency vibe, but the staff actually seemed genuinely happy to help rather than just going through the motions. My room was larger than I expected (European hotel standards, you know), and while the décor won’t win any design awards, everything worked perfectly. The shower had proper water pressure – something you can’t take for granted everywhere – and the beds were firm in that way Germans seem to prefer. I actually slept really well, which was a relief since I’d been bouncing around hostels for weeks before this.
What really won me over was the neighborhood feel. There’s this great local bakery just a few minutes’ walk away where I grabbed breakfast most mornings (way better than typical hotel breakfast, if I’m being honest), and you’re close enough to the Isar river for morning runs without dealing with tourist crowds. The area gets quiet at night – not dead quiet, but that pleasant residential hum where you hear life happening without it keeping you awake. Parking was actually manageable too, which anyone who’s driven in Munich will tell you is basically a miracle. The 8.1 rating makes total sense to me – it’s the kind of place that does everything well without any major flaws, even if it’s not going to blow your mind. I’d definitely stay here again, especially since you’re getting real value for money in a city where hotel prices can be absolutely brutal during Oktoberfest or trade fair season.

Guest Reviews
Nice quiet neighborhood
Better Wifi speed.
Staff was really kind and helpful. Location is good, really nice and quiet neighbourhood with a pleasant 25 min walk to the city centre. Rooms were clean and garage is a plus, even though it’s bit narrow.
What could be improved: Rooms didnt have much extras, like water heater etc. Minibar was empty and off, we asked for the fridge to plug it in. Tv had only German programmes (if you watch it).
Extremely clean, friendly staff
What could be improved: More fruit at breakfast please!
Good afternoon. I often stay at this hotel. I am very happy with the location, cleanliness and very friendly staff. Thank you!
What could be improved: Good afternoon, don't like the lack of a refrigerator.
Very convenient location and easy to find by car. Trams and trains within 5 minutes walk from hotel that get you quickly into the city centre. Plenty of on street parking and was able to get a permit from reception for parking. Rooms were clean, tidy and spacious. Very cosy with the heating for cold winter nights. Breakfast was delicious! Very accommodating of my two small dogs. All staff were very friendly and helpful.
What could be improved: The bed was too hard for me but that is honestly just personal preference. If you like a hard mattress then you’re in luck!
Breakfast was good, slept really well and very polite & kind staff
What could be improved: I thought there was a bar? But there wasn't one :-(
