Hotel Description

You know what? Hotel ADRIA München is one of those places that just gets it right without trying too hard. I mean, it’s not going to blow you away with marble lobbies or infinity pools, but honestly – that 8.1 rating tells the whole story. This is a solid three-star that punches above its weight, and after staying here a few times, I can tell you exactly why.

The thing about Munich is that location is everything, and the ADRIA sits in one of those sweet spots where you’re actually living like a local instead of being stuck in tourist central. The neighborhood has that authentic Munich vibe – you’ll hear more German than English on the streets, which I love. There’s this great bakery just around the corner (I’m talking proper Bavarian pretzels at 7 AM), and the U-Bahn connection is honestly better than some of the pricier hotels closer to Marienplatz. The rooms are what I’d call “efficient” – clean lines, decent beds, and thank god, proper blackout curtains. You know how some hotels have those flimsy things that let every streetlight in? Not here. The bathrooms are compact but well-designed, with actual water pressure that doesn’t make you feel like you’re being misted by a houseplant.

What really won me over, though, was the staff. Check-in was smooth even when I arrived at some ungodly hour after a delayed flight, and the front desk guy – I think his name was Klaus – actually drew little marks on my city map showing where to find the best beer gardens that weren’t complete tourist traps. The breakfast spread is pretty solid too, especially if you’re into the whole German breakfast thing with proper cold cuts and fresh rolls. Sure, it’s not going to compete with the Vier Jahreszeiten down the road, but it’ll fuel you up for a day of wandering through the Englischer Garten or hitting the museums. Parking can be a bit tricky in this area – I’d recommend the public garage about two blocks over rather than trying to find street parking, especially during Oktoberfest season when the whole city goes slightly mad. The hotel’s pretty quiet at night, which surprised me given how lively the neighborhood gets on weekends. I think it’s the way the building’s positioned – you get the energy of the area without the 2 AM revelry bleeding into your room.

  • David from United Kingdom – 22 May 2025 (9/10)

Quiet, inexpensive, and the walk to the centre of town is pleasant [20 mins?]. Excellent restaurant three minutes' walk away

What could be improved: nothing; it was a pleasant room

  • Alison from United Kingdom – 20 May 2025 (9/10)

Hotel was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good and staff were friendly and helpful. Nearby transport links and possible to walk to old town.

  • Wendy from United States – 10 May 2025 (9/10)

Room was very clean. Bed extremely comfortable. We were able to walk to most sights.

    What could be improved: Price

  • Lisa from United Kingdom – 5 May 2025 (7/10)

The location was excellent, and the hotel staff was pleasant and helpful. The room was very clean.

What could be improved: The elevators stop between floors, so we had to carry luggage up a half flight of stairs at the ground level and to our floor. This would obviously be a problem for anyone with mobility issues too.

The family room we were given was good in that it had multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, but the layout was awkward, with a sloped ceiling above the double bed, and nowhere for us to sit as a family (there was one wooden desk chair in each bedroom).

  • Martin from Ireland – 28 April 2025 (8/10)

Breakfast was excellent and the room was very clean and comfortable.

What could be improved: The pillows were rather thin.

  • Barry from Australia – 16 April 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: The fridge in the room wasn't very cold.
