First Impressions

Walking up to Hotel Admiral on Kohlstrasse, you immediately get the sense that this place knows what it’s doing. It’s one of those four-star hotels that doesn’t try too hard — the kind where everything just feels right from the moment you step inside. Location & Neighborhood

Honestly, the location is probably the hotel’s biggest win. You’re right in Ludwigsvorstadt, which locals will tell you is where Munich really comes alive. I mean, you can walk to Marienplatz in about fifteen minutes, but you’re also close enough to the Glockenbachviertel that you’ll stumble upon some fantastic local spots. The area has this perfect mix — you’ve got traditional beer gardens within walking distance, but also trendy cafes and shops that most tourists never find. Couples especially seem to love it here, and I can see why — there’s something romantic about wandering these tree-lined streets in the evening.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d hope for — clean lines, comfortable bed, and those little touches that show someone actually thought about how travelers live. The windows are well-insulated (you know how Munich can get), and the bathroom had that perfect water pressure that makes you want to stay in the shower forever. What I really appreciated was the storage space — they actually gave you enough hangers and drawer space for a proper stay, not just an overnight stop.

Breakfast & Dining

The breakfast buffet is solid — not groundbreaking, but definitely satisfying. You’ll find all the German breakfast staples alongside some international options, and the coffee is actually good (which isn’t always a given at hotel buffets). They set it up in a bright space that gets morning light, so you’re not eating in some windowless basement restaurant. I found myself lingering over breakfast longer than usual, partly because the atmosphere was just pleasant and partly because I knew I had a full day of exploring ahead.

What really sets Hotel Admiral apart is how it balances everything — you’re getting genuine quality without paying premium prices, and you’re in a location that gives you access to both tourist Munich and local Munich. The staff seems to actually know the neighborhood well, so they can point you toward places that aren’t in every guidebook.   Location was great, automated access. Room was spacious. Very accommodating staff.
  
  What could be improved: Breakfast options could have been better in terms of adding scrambled eggs, omelettes etc. we would have also appreciated a 24/7 reception.

  Very comfortable room, a good size with plenty of storage – good size bathroom with walk in shower. Good continental breakfast, always plenty on offer. Nice outdoor space probably more suitable for the Summer as its quite shaded. Great location with only a 10 minute walk into central historic area. Very quiet during the night, nearby area was buzzy with restaurants and bars, felt very safe walking and using public transport.
  
  What could be improved: a bit more room at breakfast would be useful, they are a popular hotel and can be a little short of tables until the weather warms up and the outside space can then be used – not normally a problem but if you have a flight to catch bear that in mind.

  Our room was very comfortable, but most importantly was the hospitality of the staff. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially our night-time manager through the week. He was excellent.

  A wonderful hotel with amazing staff! From the moment you walk in, you feel right at home. The rooms are cozy and very clean. The location is perfect—just a 5-minute walk to the train and metro lines, and 10 minutes to Marienplatz. The breakfast is nice, varied, and fresh. But what I liked most about the hotel was definitely the staff. From the reception to the breakfast service, everyone is professional, helpful, and friendly. I will definitely choose this hotel again on my next trip to Munich.
