HOMELY STAY Studio 3 – Cozy Self-Check-In Studio in Central Munich

Overview

So I’ve stayed at this HOMELY STAY Studio 3 place a few times now, and honestly? It’s become my go-to when I need to be in Munich’s center without breaking the bank. The self-check-in thing was weird at first – I mean, you’re just standing there on the street looking for some code box – but once you get the hang of it, it’s actually pretty liberating. No awkward small talk with desk clerks, no waiting around.

The studio itself is… well, it’s cozy in that European way where “cozy” sometimes means “compact but cleverly designed.” You know what I mean? Everything has its place, and there’s this little kitchenette that’s surprisingly functional if you’re the type who picks up groceries at Tengelmann or one of those late-night Turkish shops. The bed’s comfortable enough (I’m picky about mattresses), and they’ve got decent blackout curtains which – trust me – you’ll appreciate during Munich’s ridiculously long summer days. What really sold me though was the location. I can walk to Marienplatz in about ten minutes, maybe fifteen if I’m stopping for coffee. The U-Bahn is right there, so getting to Oktoberfest grounds or out to Schwabing is no big deal. And here’s something the booking sites don’t tell you – you’re close enough to the action but far enough from the tourist chaos that you can actually sleep at night.

The 8.8 rating makes sense to me, actually. It’s not fancy (it’s a 3-star place, so adjust expectations accordingly), but everything works. The WiFi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, the shower has decent water pressure, and the heating… well, Munich winters are no joke, so that matters. I did have one stay where the neighbor was watching TV pretty loud until like midnight, but that’s apartment living anywhere in the city center. The cleaning is thorough – I’ve never walked into any unpleasant surprises, which honestly can’t be said for every self-check-in place I’ve tried. If I’m being completely honest, the only thing that bugs me is that sometimes the entry system gets finicky when it’s really cold outside, but the host is pretty responsive if you text them. Overall, it works for what it is – a solid, no-fuss base camp in Munich that doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not.
