Look, I’ll be honest with you – Homaris Apartments München Laim isn’t going to blow your mind, but it’s one of those places that just works. You know what I mean? It’s sitting in the Laim district, which honestly most tourists have never heard of, but that’s actually kind of perfect if you want to see how Munich really functions beyond all the Oktoberfest chaos.

The thing about Laim is that it feels properly residential – you’ll wake up to the sounds of actual Müncheners heading to work rather than crowds of tourists dragging suitcases down cobblestones. There’s this solid, working-class vibe that I really appreciated. The apartments themselves are pretty straightforward – nothing fancy, but everything you need is there. The kitchenettes are small but functional (I managed to cook actual meals, not just heat up instant noodles), and the beds are surprisingly comfortable for a 3-star place. The whole setup feels more like staying in someone’s spare apartment than a hotel, which can be either exactly what you want or slightly underwhelming depending on your mood.

What really sold me on the location was realizing how connected you actually are to everything. The S-Bahn station is close enough that you don’t need to plan your life around transit schedules, and once you’re on that line, you’re maybe 15 minutes from Marienplatz when you want your dose of tourist Munich. But here’s the thing – when you come back in the evening, you’re returning to quiet residential streets where the biggest excitement might be someone walking their dog. I actually loved that contrast. Plus, there are these little local spots nearby that you’d never find if you were staying in the Altstadt – proper neighborhood bakeries where they know everyone’s usual order, and a few gasthauses that serve schnitzel without the tourist markup. The 7.2 rating feels about right, honestly. It’s not going to win any design awards, and the service is more functional than charming, but sometimes that’s exactly what you need. If you’re the type who spends most of your day out exploring and just wants a clean, quiet place to crash that won’t eat your entire travel budget, this place delivers. Just don’t expect anyone to hold your hand or offer insider tips – you’re pretty much on your own, which in Munich’s well-organized way, works out just fine.

  The balcony was a great bonus, especially for smokers. It was nice to have fresh air and a bit of outdoor space to relax.
  
  What could be improved: Although my reservation stated the standard check-in time was 3:00 PM, I received a message a few hours before saying that I wouldn’t be able to enter the room before 4:00 PM.
  
  Despite the room being cleaned and ready, I was left waiting in front of the door for almost 40 minutes because of the keyless entry system.
  
  There was no staff available to assist — no one at the property and no one reachable by phone, which was quite frustrating.
  
  Additionally, early check-in is subject to extra charges per hour, which feels unfriendly and inflexible.
  
  On the last night, a family with a baby was placed in the room next to mine, and unfortunately, the baby cried almost all night. I couldn’t sleep at all, which left me extremely tired the next day.

  Small but functional room with everything I expected including a kitchenette and even a balcony.
  
  What could be improved: The walls are thin and you hear neighbours from various directions. There’s no luggage storage after checkout (despite the fact that a room at the entrance has a “luggage” sign on it.

  Location. Easy access to U-bahn and München hbf. Has a kitchenette with everything you need
  
  What could be improved: The shower door didn’t close correctly. From the 5 beds only 2 are beds the other ones are sofa cama and one extra small bed so it is a little uncomfortable.
