Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about the Holiday Inn Munich City Centre? It’s actually in Au-Haidhausen, which honestly is way better than being smack in the touristy center. I mean, you’re still close to everything that matters, but you get to stay in this genuinely charming neighborhood that most visitors completely miss.
The hotel sits on Hochstraße, and here’s the thing locals know – this puts you perfectly positioned between the Isar River and the city center without the constant stream of tour groups. You can walk to the Deutsches Museum in maybe ten minutes (seriously underrated if you ask me), and getting to Marienplatz is just a quick hop on the S-Bahn from Rosenheimer Platz station, which is literally around the corner. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – Au-Haidhausen has this residential feel once the sun goes down, but during the day there’s actually quite a bit of life with proper cafes and that authentic Munich vibe you don’t get near the Hauptbahnhof.
The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star Holiday Inn, but they’ve clearly put effort into keeping everything fresh and functional. The beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms are spacious enough that you don’t feel like you’re getting ready in an airplane lavatory. Check-in was smooth – no drama, which honestly is sometimes the best compliment you can give a hotel. The staff seemed to actually know the neighborhood when I asked about dinner recommendations, pointing me toward some spots on Rosenheimer Straße that I never would have found otherwise. One small thing that bugged me was the air conditioning – it’s there, but in typical European fashion, it’s not the arctic blast Americans might expect during summer months. The breakfast was decent, nothing spectacular but filling enough before a day of wandering around Munich’s beer gardens. What really sold me on the place was stepping outside and realizing I was in actual Munich, not tourist Munich – there’s a difference, and if you’ve spent time in the city, you’ll know exactly what I mean. The 8.3 rating feels about right; it’s not trying to be fancy, but it gets all the important stuff right and puts you somewhere you’d actually want to explore.
To book hotel in Munich during the famous Oktoberfest season, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts beer enthusiasts and cultural travelers from around the world.

Location
What could be improved: Staff at reception. Lack of basic civilities like saying hello, thank you and goodbyeExcellent hotel with sufficient parking – A from Netherlands – July 28, 2025 (9/10)
Location is good, room size is Holiday Inn standard. Breakfast buffet was exceptional. Special mention to the supermarket below the hotel. Parking was convinient.
What could be improved: Nothing to specify. We liked everything.Wonderful – Hany from Egypt – July 26, 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: nothing bad there really, i like the hotelNice and clean room, central location, helpful staff but need to ask for amenities and no refrigerator – Gavas from Turkey – July 21, 2025 (8/10)
The hotel's location was perfect. It was near a city park with a river, and it was also in a central location. City highlights are just a walk away.
The hotel and room were clean, and the staff was friendly and helpful.
What could be improved: Guest amenities were not available in the room. For example slippers, ear cotton and cotton wool etc. You had to ask for these from the reception.
It was quite interesting that there was no refrigerator in the room.Very Good – Steven from United Kingdom – June 23, 2025 (8/10)
Reasonably good position. Walkable to the city centre. Close to a good beer garden too.
What could be improved: NothingGenerally good – Helen from Philippines – June 21, 2025 (9/10)
The breakfast buffet, cleanliness and strategic location
What could be improved: Some front desk staff are a little rudeA good stay – Rebeca from El Salvador – June 19, 2025 (9/10)
Very comfortable bed, our room always kept clean and neat. We loved breakfast every morning, it was very varied and we never got bored with so many options and so was the restaurant for lunch and dinner. The hotel staff was very friendly. It was very convinient that we had a connected supermarket with the hotel and a train station near.
What could be improved: Sometimes we would listen to the noise of people moving things in the room above us. We stayed twice and the second stay there were some issues within our floor and the room lights were off at night… it took several hours to fix.Great location to explore the city – Gregg from United States – June 17, 2025 (8/10)
Great location, clean hotel, taxis available out front
What could be improved: I thought my reservation included breakfast. They said it didn't when I checked in. Very expensive if not included. It was a comfortable stay – Praveen from Kuwait – June 14, 2025 (9/10)
Clean . Well located
