You know what struck me first about the Hilton Munich City? It’s one of those places that feels properly Bavarian without trying too hard – and trust me, I’ve stayed in plenty of Munich hotels that lean way too heavily into the whole lederhosen-and-pretzels thing. This one gets the balance right, which honestly surprised me for a big chain property.

The location is what really sells it, though you might not realize it immediately from the street view. Sure, it’s in the city center, but more importantly, you’re actually walkable to the good stuff without being stuck right in the tourist chaos around Marienplatz. I mean, you can still hear the city hum – it’s Munich, after all – but you’re not dealing with those tour groups streaming past your window at 7 AM. The U-Bahn connections are solid too, which matters more than you’d think when you’re juggling day trips to Neuschwanstein and late dinners in Schwabing. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no overselling of spa packages or restaurant reservations, just efficient and friendly in that particular German way.

What I really appreciated were the smaller touches that show they actually understand business travelers and tourists alike. The rooms have proper work spaces (not just some tiny corner desk), and the WiFi doesn’t mysteriously slow down during peak hours like some places I could mention. The beds are genuinely comfortable – firm enough that you won’t wake up feeling like you slept in a hammock, but not so rigid you feel like you’re camping. And honestly, the breakfast setup is surprisingly good for a hotel this size. They’ve got the usual international spread, but there’s also proper local bread and those thick-cut German cold cuts that actually taste like something. The coffee’s decent too, which – let’s be real – isn’t always a given at chain hotels.

The 8.3 rating makes perfect sense when you experience it. It’s not trying to be the flashiest place in Munich, but it delivers consistently on the things that actually matter when you’re traveling. The staff knows the neighborhood well enough to point you toward that little brewery tucked behind the main drag, or tell you which S-Bahn line to avoid during rush hour. Small stuff, but it adds up. The only minor gripe I’d have is that some of the common areas feel a bit dated – not bad, just showing their age in that way four-star properties sometimes do between major renovations. But when you’re spending most of your time exploring the city anyway, it’s hardly a deal-breaker. If you want something reliable in a genuinely useful location without paying five-star prices, this place delivers exactly what it promises.

  Everything about the Hilton experience was fabulous, very professional friendly and helpful staff.
  Also being located right next to the train station was great.
  The room was comfortable….very happy with our stay there.

  The place was clean, comfortable, and very cozy.
  The location is excellent – everything is within easy reach, and the neighborhood is quiet.
  There’s a metro station right next to the apartment, with great connections to all major sights and attractions.

  What could be improved: – was asked to pay in advance for the things I would potentially consume from the room. Then it turned out they charged me twice for the room. The second receptionist was super nice and apologetic but overall experience is not welcoming.
  – parking is 33 euro which is ridiculously overpriced. By the way parking spots are extremely small. Once you park passengers weren’t able to get out. Door opening was close to the wall
