You’re a ten-minute walk from the English Garden’s less crowded eastern entrance – you know, where the locals go jogging instead of where everyone’s taking Instagram shots at the Chinese Tower. There’s this little bakery around the corner on Ismaninger Straße that does incredible pretzels, and the U4 line at Böhmerwaldplatz gets you downtown in maybe fifteen minutes without the hassle. Parking’s actually manageable here too, which anyone who’s tried to drive in Munich’s Altstadt will appreciate. The staff seems to get that they’re not running a typical tourist hotel – they’re genuinely helpful with local recommendations instead of just pointing you toward Marienplatz like everywhere else. Sure, it’s not going to wow you with some spectacular rooftop bar or marble everything, but sometimes you just want a really solid place to sleep that doesn’t feel like a corporate chain threw up all over it.
