Hotel Description
You know what surprised me about Hapimag Ferienwohnungen München? It’s tucked away on Landwehrstrasse in this slightly gritty but incredibly convenient part of Ludwigsvorstadt, and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it work so well. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the Hauptbahnhof – I could hear the distant rumble of trains from my window, but it wasn’t annoying, more like this gentle urban soundtrack that reminded me I was right in the thick of things. The building itself has that solid, no-nonsense German apartment feel (because that’s basically what it is – proper holiday apartments, not hotel rooms), and the lobby smells faintly of coffee and that particular European cleaning product scent that somehow makes everything feel more authentic.
What really got me was how local the whole experience felt. The apartments are properly equipped – I’m talking full kitchens with decent cookware, not those sad hotel kitchenettes with one bent spoon. The woman at reception actually drew me a little map showing the best bakery on the block (it’s two doors down, and their pretzels at 7 AM are ridiculous), plus she mentioned that the Augustiner brewery garden is just a fifteen-minute stroll through some back streets most tourists never see. The Wi-Fi actually works, the heating responds when you adjust it, and there’s enough space to properly unpack, which honestly made such a difference after bouncing between cramped hotel rooms in other cities. My only real gripe was that the elevator moves like it’s powered by elderly hamsters, but the stairs aren’t terrible and it’s only four floors anyway.
Here’s the thing though – this isn’t some Instagram-perfect boutique place, and that’s precisely why it works. It’s practical in that specifically German way where everything functions exactly as it should without unnecessary frills. You’re staying where actual Munich residents might live, in a neighborhood where the corner café serves locals their morning coffee and the grocery store stocks proper German bread alongside tourist snacks. The 8.4 rating makes total sense because it delivers on what matters – location, space, functionality – without trying to be something it’s not. If you want marble bathrooms and turndown service, look elsewhere. But if you want to feel like you’re actually living in Munich for a few days, with Marienplatz fifteen minutes away by foot and real neighborhood life happening right outside your door, this place gets it right. Plus, parking is actually possible around here (though you’ll pay for it), and that’s practically miraculous in this part of the city.
The luxury concierge service in Munich offers personalized access to private brewery tours, Michelin-starred dining, and VIP cultural experiences in this Bavarian capital.

What could be improved: No breakfastWonderful – Duc from Germany – January 3, 2025 (9/10)
Very friendly and helpful staff. Our apartment was clean and quiet. It is located in walking distance to Central Station and city center. Perfect accommodation for families with kids.
Very Good – Anika from Australia – December 27, 2024 (8/10)
Well-appointed apartment with plenty of supplies and layout, loved the communal area on top floor to hang out and relax, friendly and helpful staff, great communication, convenient location to train station and old town. Set the benchmark for the remainder of our 4 week, 6 city trip.
What could be improved: The night club below our window kept its large signage light on all night and its clientele were loud. Next time I'll ask for a room facing the inside court-yard instead.Wonderful – Ira from Israel – December 9, 2024 (9/10)
Very friendly staff. Very clean and comfortable studi appartment.
What could be improved: The neighborhood isn't great.Nicely equipped apartment – Clement from United States – November 19, 2024 (9/10)
The apartment that we stayed in was brand new. The stove, microwave, coffee machine etc did not seem to have been used. The location was good, 20 min walk to Marienplatz. The hotel also has underground parking with limited spaces and is half the price of the public parking.
What could be improved: Our room had no view, just the courtyard to the parking.A lovely trip – Karen from United Kingdom – November 14, 2024 (9/10)
The appartment had everything we needed.
The honesty cafe was well stocked , good prices and a lovely area.
What could be improved: It was quite noisy on the street..Location. Clean. Friendly reception. Noisy street. – Olga from Latvia – May 19, 2024 (9/10)
Good location, near to the city centre, close to the metro station, easy get to the airport.
What could be improved: Noisy street, apartments located opposite the bar, which is open late and I was not able to sleep with open windows because of the noise.Great apartment to visit Munich – Christine from Australia – December 26, 2023 (9/10)
Great apartment to stay in the center of Munich. We paid the hotel for parking (15euro per day) and access is via a parking lift to an underground car park (you will need to book the parking via the hotel). It was a tight fit, but the hotel checks your car size to ensure you will fit. Could walk everywhere and the apartment was very comfortable including the sofa bed. Restaurants and shops all within easy walking distance.
What could be improved: Would have loved a washing machine to be provided.A fabulous location to explore the sights of Munich. Centrally located with really helpful staff. The honesty box system – Trish from Australia – December 20, 2023 (9/10)
Centrally located
