Look, GS Hotel isn’t going to blow you away with fancy chandeliers or marble lobbies, but honestly? That’s kind of what I liked about it. It’s one of those solid, no-nonsense places that does the basics really well without trying to be something it’s not. The rooms are actually bigger than you’d expect for a 3-star spot, and whoever designed them understood that travelers need places to put their stuff. There’s this great little desk area by the window where I ended up working most mornings with my coffee, and the beds are surprisingly decent – firm enough that you won’t wake up feeling like you slept on a marshmallow. The bathrooms are clean and functional, though the water pressure varies depending on what floor you’re on (I was on the fourth floor and it was fine, but my friend on the second floor said hers was pretty weak). One thing that caught me off guard – in a good way – was how quiet it gets at night. You’d think with it being right in the mix of things there’d be more street noise, but the windows do their job.

What really sets this place apart is the staff, honestly. They’re not putting on some rehearsed hospitality show, they just genuinely seem to care about making sure you’re sorted. The guy at the front desk – I think his name was Marcus – remembered I was heading out early one morning and made sure there was coffee ready in the lobby by 6 AM, even though breakfast doesn’t usually start until 7. Little things like that matter when you’re traveling. The breakfast itself is pretty standard continental fare, but they do this amazing local pastry thing on weekends that’s worth getting up for. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you’re driving – there’s a small lot behind the building, but it fills up fast, so you might end up street parking a block or two away. Not a dealbreaker, just something to keep in mind. The location works really well if you want to be able to walk to most places without feeling like you’re right in the chaos of everything. I mean, you’re close enough to all the action, but you can actually get some sleep at night, which honestly made all the difference for me.
