Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Grand Hotel Palladium, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical Munich business hotel. The four-star property sits quietly on Perchtinger Strasse in the Thalkirchen district, and honestly, that’s part of its charm — you’re away from the tourist crowds but still perfectly positioned to explore the city. The lobby strikes that sweet spot between elegant and welcoming, with staff who actually seem to remember your name after the first day. This upscale establishment offers a refreshing alternative to the standard corporate chains found throughout the region.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s what I love about this spot: you’re in a genuinely residential Munich neighborhood, which means you get to see how locals actually live. Thalkirchen-Obersendling isn’t flashy, but it’s authentic — tree-lined streets, corner bakeries, and that relaxed vibe you don’t find in the city center. The U-Bahn connections are solid (couples consistently rate the location highly, and I can see why), and you can reach Marienplatz in about 20 minutes. Plus, there’s private parking right at the hotel, which anyone who’s driven in Munich will tell you is worth its weight in gold.
The Rooms
The beds here are genuinely exceptional — I mean, guests rave about them for good reason. After walking around Munich all day, sinking into these mattresses feels like a small miracle. The rooms themselves are well-appointed without being fussy, with that understated German efficiency I’ve come to appreciate. You’ll find everything you need without unnecessary frills, and the soundproofing is excellent (crucial when you’re this close to the city but want actual rest). Each space has been thoughtfully designed for maximum comfort and relaxation.
Breakfast Experience
The breakfast spread at Grand Hotel Palladium is honestly impressive — they’ve managed to cater to pretty much every dietary preference without making it feel overwhelming. Continental classics sit alongside full English options, Italian selections, and comprehensive vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free choices. It’s buffet-style, but thoughtfully curated rather than just piled high with random items. If you’re rushing out early, they’ll even prepare breakfast to go, which saved me more than once during my stay.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something telling about the fact that this hotel has more repeat guests than most other properties in Munich — people genuinely want to come back. I think it’s the combination of reliable comfort without pretension, plus that neighborhood feel that makes you feel like you’re staying somewhere real rather than just passing through. The staff clearly takes pride in what they do, and you can sense that in the small details — fresh flowers in the lobby, the way housekeeping arranges your space, the genuine recommendations they give for local restaurants. It’s the kind of place where you can actually relax, which in a busy city like Munich, turns out to be exactly what you need.
Early hotels booking in Munich requires advance planning during peak festival seasons when visitors flock to enjoy the city’s renowned beer culture and Alpine atmosphere.

Guest Reviews
staff very kind , hotel very nice
The staff was really friendly
What could be improved: There was too hot in the room.
Very close to subway and a 12 min ride to center. The room was elegant, big and comfortable. For kids there is a very nice playground just behind the hotel. The breakfast was good enough.
Staff was friendly, garage was big and not crowded.
Clean and well maintained Facility, very friendly staff, good breakfast buffet
Very comfortable. Close to the U-Bahn Station. Restaurant and grocery store offerings around the corner. Easy to park and 24/7 concierge.
What could be improved: The ventilation system only had the heating, not the cooling function active.
Hotel was very clean, staff was extremely nice and breakfasts were just wonderful. Rooms are comfortable and it’s literally 5 minutes to the metro.
Big rooms, good breakfast, pro staff, tall ceilings in the underground garage, location.
What could be improved: Refrigerator in the room seemed defect
Very beautiful hotel, with a huge room and nice staff. The position is very convenient to visit the city centre via the u-bahn
Spacious, clean, easy access to transportation and quick foodspots!Great customer service
We enjoyed our stay, everything was clean and the room was so warm on that cold day. We had a upgraded on our room so we enjoyed king size bed
What could be improved: One negativ think was that baby crib was old and little bit torn on the left side
