Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard about gambino hotel WERKSVIERTEL, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The name sounds a bit industrial, doesn’t it? But after spending a few nights there, I actually get it now. This place sits right in Munich’s Werksviertel district, which is basically this cool transformed industrial area that’s become the city’s newest hotspot. You know what I mean – old factories turned into trendy spaces with startups, cool restaurants, and that slightly edgy vibe that makes you feel like you’re somewhere that matters.

The hotel itself is refreshingly unpretentious for a 3-star place. When you walk in, there’s this clean, modern aesthetic that doesn’t try too hard – sort of minimalist but warm, if that makes sense. The rooms are what I’d call “efficiently designed” (which is hotel speak for not huge, but they’ve made smart use of every inch). What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re in what’s becoming a pretty buzzy neighborhood. The staff actually knows their stuff about the area too, which is rarer than you’d think. They pointed me toward this fantastic little coffee roastery just a few blocks away that I never would’ve found on my own.

Here’s the thing that really won me over – the location is genuinely perfect if you want to experience Munich beyond the typical tourist trail. You’re close enough to the city center that getting to Marienplatz or the English Garden isn’t a hassle, but you’re staying somewhere that feels authentically local. The Werksviertel has this energy, especially in the evenings when people are grabbing drinks at the rooftop bars nearby or heading to concerts at the venues that have popped up in the converted industrial spaces. I mean, you can still easily hit all the beer gardens and traditional spots (and you absolutely should), but coming back to this area at the end of the day felt like I was getting a glimpse of Munich’s future, not just its past. The 8.4 rating honestly feels about right – it’s not trying to be luxury, but it delivers exactly what it promises with a bit of personality thrown in. Plus, the price point makes sense for what you get, which is becoming harder to find in Munich these days.

  A value for money, indeed. Booked the hotel because they got special deal- 160 eur instead of the normal price of 300! And I‘m impressed with the ambience of the room, and also the staff‘s eagerness to contact me via whatsapp, multiple times, to make sure that I have everything needed during my stay. Keep up the good work!

  The location of the hotel is perfect. It’s only a few steps away from the metro/train station and it is easy to get anywhere you want. There are also many places for food aroubd, either smaller takeaways or restaurants to enjoy local and international cuisine. Staff was friendly and if there was a problem, it was quickly solved.
  
  What could be improved: The lobby area seems somewhat empty and doesn’t really invite to spend time there. There is no bar or restaurant in the hotel itself. A matter of personal taste and preferences, but the shower and bathroom were separate and the shower has a glass door. So if your roommate wants to wash hands, go to the bathroom or just exit the room, they will definitely see you showering. The room is also very small, has only blinding curtains but not the day curtains, which takes away the feeling of privacy as everything from the room can be seen from the street and opposite buildings.

  Fantastic location close to the train station and bars and restaurants.
  
  What could be improved: The rooms get quite warm but because of the location near a nightclub it’s not great opening the window because it’s very noisy. That said the closed window is totally soundproofed so that’s good.
  There’s a vending machine for drinks and snacks but the coffee machine was out of order for our final two days.

  I was curious about the location and it ended up exceeding my expectations. The hotel is well designed and comfortable. There was a whole-night party in the building across the lane but the noise could not be heard.
