You know what caught me off guard about the Eurostars Grand Central? It’s actually got this understated elegance that hits you right when you walk through the lobby – not in a flashy, look-at-our-marble-everything way, but more like someone with really good taste designed this place and didn’t feel the need to shout about it. I mean, with a name like “Grand Central,” you might expect something a bit over the top, but honestly, they’ve struck this nice balance between upscale and approachable that’s pretty refreshing for a four-star property.

The thing is, this isn’t one of those hotels where you’re constantly reminded you’re in a hotel, if that makes sense. The common areas have this lived-in quality – comfortable seating that actually looks like people use it, lighting that doesn’t feel like you’re on a stage, and the staff genuinely seems to know what they’re doing without being overly formal about it. I noticed they remember your name after the first day, which sounds small but actually makes a huge difference when you’re traveling for business or just want to feel less anonymous. The rooms themselves are well thought out too – not massive, but everything’s where it should be, and whoever picked out the bedding clearly understood that thread count matters. There’s enough space to actually unpack if you’re staying more than a night, and the bathrooms have that perfect water pressure that makes you want to take longer showers than you probably should.

What really sealed it for me though was the breakfast situation (and I’m someone who usually just grabs coffee and runs). They’ve got this setup that’s clearly designed for people who are actually hungry, not just tourists looking for Instagram shots. Fresh pastries that taste like they were made in the building, decent coffee – which honestly can be hit or miss even at nice places – and they keep everything stocked even during the later morning rush when business travelers are all trying to fuel up at once. The whole vibe just feels… competent, I guess? Like they’ve figured out what travelers actually need and focused on doing those things really well rather than adding a bunch of bells and whistles nobody asked for. With an 8.4 rating, they’re clearly doing something right, and after staying there, I get it – it’s the kind of place that doesn’t wow you with one spectacular feature but wins you over by getting all the basics right and then adding just enough extra touches to make you glad you didn’t book somewhere cheaper.

  It was a lovely hotel, it was very clean and the reception staff were excellent. The food in the bar was lovely and the breakfast was exceptional. Great location – just a few stops on the tram (outside the door) into the centre of Munich and a 5 minute walk to the train that gets you to the airport (€16).
  
  What could be improved: It was very good. Few minor things – The gym is small (ok when I was in there early on my own but by 8 it was crowded with only 5 people). There is no iron/ironing board in the room but reception will provide one if needed.

  What could be improved: Bed's far too soft. I wanted a double bed and got 2 singles instead. Teach some of your front office staff the importance of eye contact and perhaps an occasional smile! 😄

  Very spacious room and well located just close by to the ZOB and train station too. Clean room and nice facilities too with nice transport links too.
