You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Estelada Boarding Houses in Bogenhausen, but this place actually surprised me. It’s tucked away in one of Munich’s quieter residential neighborhoods – and I mean properly quiet, not that fake “peaceful oasis” nonsense you usually read about. Bogenhausen has this old-money vibe where the streets are wide, the buildings have character, and you’re not dodging tourists every five steps like you would near Marienplatz.

The boarding house itself feels more like staying at a well-organized friend’s place than a typical hotel. Sure, it’s a 3-star spot, so don’t expect marble bathrooms or Egyptian cotton sheets, but honestly, that works in its favor. The rooms have this lived-in comfort that makes you settle in quickly – decent beds, enough storage space, and windows that actually open (which sounds basic, but you’d be amazed how many places seal you in). What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. Even though you’re still in the city, Bogenhausen doesn’t have that constant hum of traffic that keeps you up. The neighborhood shuts down properly after dinner, which means you’ll actually get some sleep.

Here’s the thing about staying here – you’re positioned really well for exploring Munich without being in the thick of the chaos. The S-Bahn connections are solid once you figure out the local stops, and there’s something refreshing about coming back to a residential area after spending your day wandering around the more touristy bits. I mean, you can walk to some decent local spots for dinner (the Germans in Bogenhausen know their neighborhood restaurants), and there’s actual parking if you’re driving, which is practically a miracle in Munich. The 7.3 rating makes sense – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it does what it promises without any nasty surprises. The staff runs things efficiently without being overly formal, check-in was straightforward, and honestly, for the price point in Munich, you’re getting decent value. It’s the kind of place where you sleep well, start your day without drama, and don’t spend the whole trip dealing with hotel headaches.

  Location- for us near family and public transportation

  I really liked the apartment, and especially the hostess. Who was very kind and responsive. Comfortable beds, as well as location.

  What could be improved: They really messed up our reservation by double booking another group. We arrived back at 23h and had a group of strangers about to sleep in our room still with our belongings inside. They got the exact room and security codes for the same day, and because they didn’t alert the staff we were not notified until we complained. It was a pain to take out all our belongings after a long day, and making sure we didn’t get robbed because the same security codes are just copy pasted into all bookings.
  
  The rooms next to the pizzeria suffered with loud music until 3am and most of us were not able to sleep.

  Mit dem Online Check-In und Self Check-In hat alles reibungslos funktioniert und es war auch möglich etwas früher einzuchecken, was für uns sehr praktisch war.

  Trort 32 Grad u viel Sonne, angenehm kühl in der Wohnung trotz der großen Fensterfront. Auch Betten oben direkt unter dem Dach noch angenehm. Wohnung sehr ruhig, kostenloser Parkplatz vor dem Haus immer mal was frei.
  Nach telefonischer Ankündigung wann Anreise u Wohnungsbezug sehr freundliches Personal mit schneller Antwort. Eingangsbereich mit Schlüsselsafe einfach u tadellos funktioniert.
  Park um die Ecke mit Einkehrmöglichkeit auf dem Gelände der Gartenanlage. U Bahnstation 6 Minuten erreichbar zu Fuß.
  Jederzeit wieder buchen wenn wir in München sind.
  
  What could be improved: Der Boden war leider schmutzig. Sowohl oben neben Bett als auch untere Etage. Loser Schmutz u Krümmel. Bettwäsche, Küche u Bad waren aber sauber.
