Overview

You know what? Das kleine Hotel in München is exactly what it sounds like – small, unpretentious, and genuinely Bavarian in that way that doesn’t feel forced for tourists. I mean, the name literally translates to “the little hotel in Munich,” and honestly, that straightforward approach pretty much sums up the whole experience. It’s a solid 3-star spot that doesn’t try to be something it’s not, which I actually found refreshing after staying at places that promise the moon and deliver mediocre room service.

The building itself has that lived-in charm you find all over Munich – nothing flashy, but sturdy and welcoming in a way that grows on you. My room was compact (and I mean compact), but everything worked properly, which is more than I can say for some fancier places I’ve stayed. The breakfast spread was surprisingly decent – proper German bread, local cheeses, and coffee that didn’t taste like it came from a vending machine. What I really appreciated was how quiet it got at night, even though you’re still in the city. The staff seemed to actually live in Munich, not just work there temporarily, so they knew their stuff when I asked about getting to the Christmas markets without dealing with the tourist crowds on Marienplatz.

Here’s the thing about this place – it sits in that sweet spot where locals might actually recommend it to visiting relatives, you know? The 7.4 rating makes sense because it’s not trying to wow anyone, just provide a clean, comfortable base while you explore the city. Parking was a bit of a puzzle (welcome to Munich), but the front desk guy walked me through the neighborhood options instead of just shrugging. I ended up spending way more time wandering around the area than I planned because it felt like a real slice of the city rather than a hotel district. If you’re the type who needs a spa and room service until midnight, look elsewhere. But if you want somewhere genuine to crash after days spent in beer gardens and museums – somewhere that feels more like staying at a friend’s practical aunt’s house than a corporate hotel – this little place delivers exactly what it promises.

Hotels near me in Munich offer convenient access to the old town, where guests can easily walk to Neues Rathaus, Viktualienmarkt, and traditional beer gardens.

What could be improved: The breakfast is quite poor (just bread, cheese, ham, yoghurt, cereals, apple, coffee, milk), it needs to be improved quite a bit.

The location is perfect with the metro station „Stiglmaier Platz“ being 1 minute away from the hotel. Also, the room was small but it was totally fine for two nights and we even got a ventilator! The breakfast was included, very basic but totally fine.

What could be improved: I was disappointed by the fact that almost no one is around in the hotel. There is no check in, and the employees all leave in the afternoon. Also, a big disadvantage is that you cannot leave the luggage there as they do not offer storage.
