Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to das HOTEL in München on Türkenstraße, you immediately get the sense this place knows what it’s doing. It’s not trying to be flashy or oversell itself — just a solid three-star property that’s clearly figured out how to make guests happy. The building has that understated German efficiency vibe, and honestly, after staying here, I can see why so many people come back. There’s something refreshing about a hotel that doesn’t promise the moon but delivers exactly what you need.
Location & Neighborhood
The Maxvorstadt location is honestly brilliant — you’re right in the heart of Munich’s cultural district without the tourist chaos. I mean, you can walk to the university area, browse the art galleries, and still feel like you’re in a real neighborhood where locals actually live. What really struck me is how couples seem to love this spot (apparently they rate the location 9.0, which makes total sense). You’ve got that perfect mix of cafes, bookshops, and tree-lined streets that make you want to just wander around. Plus, having private parking right at the hotel is a game-changer if you’re driving — trust me, finding parking in Munich can be a nightmare.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d expect from a well-run German hotel — clean lines, quality basics, and everything working perfectly. Nothing fancy, but you know what? Sometimes that’s exactly what you want. The bed was comfortable, the shower had proper water pressure, and there were enough outlets for all my devices. I appreciated the little touches too — good lighting for reading and blackout curtains that actually blocked out the morning light. It’s the kind of place where you can tell they’ve thought about what travelers actually need, not just what looks good in photos.
Service & Atmosphere
What really sets this place apart is the repeat guest factor — apparently they have way more returning visitors than most hotels, and after staying here, I totally get why. The staff has that relaxed professionalism that makes you feel welcome without being overly fussy. They know the neighborhood inside and out, so when you ask for recommendations, you get real answers, not just the tourist traps. There’s this comfortable, almost residential feeling to the whole place that makes it easy to settle in, whether you’re here for business or just exploring the city.
Why Guests Love It
Look, das HOTEL in München isn’t going to wow you with marble lobbies or rooftop pools, but it does something better — it makes your stay effortless. The location puts you right where you want to be, the rooms are comfortable and functional, and the whole operation just runs smoothly. For couples especially, this seems to hit the sweet spot of being centrally located but still peaceful. It’s the kind of place where you can focus on enjoying Munich instead of dealing with hotel drama, and honestly, that’s worth its weight in gold when you’re traveling.

Guest Reviews
The position.
What could be improved: Internet was too slow, it was impossible to even just go online and send emails.
Very nice room with bright color, comfy beds and large bathrooms.
What could be improved: More sweets options in the breakfast. For people that don’t like to eat salty at the mornings the only option is bread and Nutella/jam. You should offer some croissant, or cake…it would be great some applestrudel
Breakfast was delicious with many options. The location is excellent. Staff is very helpful.
Beds
Antique decor
Room service - house cleaning everyday
Good staff
What could be improved: Broken lamp
Hand wash and toilet in two different places
15 minutes' walk to Marienplaz. On street lot of small restaurants available. Historical ( Interesting over 200 Years old House , who is located this hotel ). Reasonable price. U-Bahn -- 7 minuts of walk.
What could be improved: Breakfast time , if many people, little bit needed patience.
It was clean and it was in a good location near TUM with many restaurants on the street.
What could be improved: It would have been nice to have a kettle and a couple of tea bags in the room.
very spacious room, very clean and good location
What could be improved: very basic equipment, but nothing to complain about too much
Good location and spacious, nice to have a balcony.
What could be improved: We did stay during Oktoberfest however I still think this was expensive at £222 a night. Would expect access to more facilities in the hotel for this price.
Such as a bar or even a mini bar in the room. A fan in the room would also be good for when the temperature is +20 degC. A large style breakfast.
the property is very central and easy to walk everywhere
What could be improved: bathrooms are kind of small
'das hotel' sounds like 'das boat' but it should read 'das chaos'. Within that chaos the reception area did its utmost and found many solutions.
What could be improved: The mere fact that my mail was not answered so a parking spot was not available. After some strong words and threatening with a review a solution was found. An emotional start of a three days stay that was eventually pretty pleasant. Munich is a great city.
