Hotel Description
So I ended up at the Courtyard by Marriott Munich City East last spring, and honestly? It’s one of those places that grows on you. First impression walking in – the lobby’s got that clean Marriott vibe you’d expect, nothing too flashy but definitely put-together. The check-in was smooth, though I did notice they seem to get slammed around 3 PM when tour groups roll in, so maybe aim for earlier or later if you can.
What I actually loved about this spot is how it sits in the eastern part of Munich – you’re not right in the tourist madness of Marienplatz, but you’re not stuck in some random suburb either. The U-Bahn connections are solid (Berg am Laim station is your friend here), and honestly, being a bit removed from the center means you get to see how Munich actually works as a city. There’s this great local bakery maybe two blocks away where I grabbed coffee most mornings – way better than the hotel stuff, though their breakfast spread isn’t terrible if you’re in a hurry. The rooms are… well, they’re Marriott rooms. You know what you’re getting – clean, functional, beds that don’t make your back hate you. I mean, the decor won’t win any awards, but the AC actually works (crucial in summer), and the shower pressure is decent. One thing that surprised me was how quiet it stays at night, even though you’re still in the city. The windows do their job.
Here’s the thing though – this place makes sense if you’re planning to explore beyond just the obvious Munich highlights. I spent one day checking out the Werksviertel area, which is this cool redeveloped district that’s actually walking distance from the hotel. Most tourists skip it completely, but there’s some interesting art installations and this urban beach thing in summer that locals go crazy for. Plus, if you’re thinking about day trips – maybe Salzburg or even the castles – the hotel’s position makes getting to the hauptbahnhof pretty straightforward without dealing with city center traffic. The staff seems to get a lot of business travelers, so they’re pretty efficient about things like late check-outs or holding luggage. I wouldn’t call it the warmest service ever, but they know what they’re doing. Parking’s available if you’ve got a car, though I’d honestly just use public transport – Munich’s system is too good to ignore, and you’ll save yourself the headache of navigating those narrow streets in Altstadt. All in all, it’s a solid choice if you want reliable comfort without paying Maximilianstrasse prices, and you don’t mind being slightly off the beaten path.

Nice rich breakfast, clean room, helpful stuff, covered parking, quiet room, large restaurant
What could be improved: The best times seems to be over – not increasing overall impression, but in general still very good hotel compared to some others in the districtSiew from United Kingdom – 30 October 2024 (8/10)
Very convenient and within walking distance to Osbahnhof.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
What could be improved: The shampoo, shower gel, conditioner dispensers were too high. I am a short lady and it was difficult for me to reach. If children were staying, they would have a problem too.Ricardo from Puerto Rico – 16 October 2024 (8/10)
Breakfast did not exceeded expectations.
What could be improved: Too pricey for the menu.
