Overview
First Impressions
Walking into the Courtyard by Marriott Munich City Center, you immediately get that “this is going to work out well” feeling. The lobby has that polished Marriott vibe without being stuffy — modern furniture, clean lines, and staff who actually seem happy to see you. I mean, it’s a four-star property, so you know what you’re getting into quality-wise, but there’s something refreshingly straightforward about the whole setup that puts you at ease right away.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s the thing about staying on Schwanthaler Strasse — you’re basically in the sweet spot of Munich. The Hauptbahnhof is close enough that you can walk there with luggage (trust me on this), but you’re not dealing with all the chaos that comes with being right on top of the train station. Couples seem to really get this location — honestly, I can see why they rate it so highly for romantic trips. You can stroll to the old town in about fifteen minutes, or hop on the U-Bahn and be anywhere in the city without the hassle.
The Room Experience
The room setup here is what I’d call “business traveler meets weekend getaway.” Everything works exactly as it should — the Wi-Fi doesn’t drop out, the shower has proper water pressure, and the bed is that perfect Marriott firmness that somehow works for everyone. The windows are actually soundproofed well enough that you forget you’re in the middle of a busy city. What I really appreciated was the workspace area — it’s not just a tiny desk shoved in a corner, but an actual functional space where you can spread out a bit.
Morning Fuel
The breakfast buffet is… well, it’s a buffet, but a good one. You know what I mean — there’s the usual suspects like scrambled eggs and pastries, but they also do a decent job with local touches. The coffee is strong enough to get you moving, and honestly, the selection is broad enough that even picky eaters will find something that works. The breakfast area gets busy around 8 AM (because everyone’s trying to get an early start on sightseeing), so if you’re not a morning person, maybe aim for 9:30 or later.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it doesn’t try to be something it’s not. You’re getting reliable comfort in a spot that makes exploring Munich actually enjoyable rather than exhausting. The staff knows the neighborhood well enough to give you real recommendations — not just the tourist traps everyone suggests. Plus, there’s something to be said for staying with a brand you trust when you’re in a foreign city; you can focus on enjoying Munich instead of worrying about whether your hotel will have hot water or decent Wi-Fi. It’s that sweet spot between authentic local experience and knowing exactly what you’re getting.

Guest Reviews
Good size room, comfortable bed and really lovely breakfast
1.location
location - walking distance to almost all tourist attractions , clean room and bathroom, friendly staff
Comfortable bed and pillows. Enough room. Complimentary water, possibilty to make tea and coffee. Fridge.
Breakfast was good.
Clean friendly
What could be improved: Thought it was in a turkish labour camp
Spacious room, comfortable bed, complimentary water. Good breakfast.
What could be improved: not a dislike as such but I found the cupboard doors very difficult to open, very heavy and too small a knob.
As we occupied an “accessible “ room I felt that should be a consideration.
Reception staff were great, the team.that cleaned our room did a super job which was room 403. Thank you. A really nice choice for Breakfast.
What could be improved: It is not well sign posted from the local station. Where as Lidl next door has a huge sign which you can see from the end of the street. There is no obvious sign for the Marriott.
Great location for Munich Central Station. Close to Karlsplatz. Comfy bed, nice room, lovely helpful staff, excellent choice of food for breakfast.
What could be improved: Nothing
ROOM clean
What could be improved: all ok
