Overview
Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of Marriott properties, but this Courtyard in Munich’s city center actually surprised me in the best way. You walk in and there’s this modern lobby that doesn’t feel sterile – I mean, it’s sleek but still warm somehow, with these comfortable seating areas where you’ll actually see locals grabbing coffee, not just tourists dragging their luggage around. The check-in was refreshingly quick, and the staff switched between German and English so seamlessly it made me wish I’d paid more attention in high school language class.
What really won me over was how they’ve managed to blend that reliable Marriott comfort with genuine Munich character. The rooms are spacious by European standards – honestly, I was expecting something cramped given the prime location, but I could actually open my suitcase without rearranging the furniture. The beds are proper comfortable (you know how some European hotels think firm means rock-hard), and there’s this great city view from most rooms that gives you a real sense of being in the heart of things. The bathrooms are well-designed too, with actual counter space and lighting that doesn’t make you look like you’ve been living underground for weeks.
Here’s the thing about the location – and this is where it gets really good – you’re genuinely walking distance from everything that matters. I’m talking about a five-minute stroll to Marienplatz when you want to do the tourist thing, but you’re also close enough to some of the neighborhoods where actual Munich residents hang out. The hotel sits in this sweet spot where you can grab an authentic pretzel from a local bakery in the morning, then wander over to the English Garden (which is absolutely massive, by the way) without needing public transport. Parking can be tricky in this part of the city, but the hotel has sorted that out with a garage – it’s not cheap, but honestly, what is in Munich’s center? The real bonus is how quiet the rooms are considering you’re surrounded by city life. I was expecting traffic noise all night, but their windows must be excellent because I slept straight through.
The breakfast deserves a mention because it’s not just your standard continental spread – they’ve got local specialties mixed in with international options, and the coffee is actually good, not just hotel-acceptable. There’s a fitness center that’s compact but has everything you need if you’re trying to work off all those weisswurst and beer combinations. What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to know the city beyond just the major tourist attractions. When I asked about a good spot for dinner that wasn’t overrun with tour groups, the concierge gave me three solid recommendations that locals actually frequent. That kind of insight makes a difference when you’re trying to experience a place rather than just photograph it.

Guest Reviews
Good size room, comfortable bed and really lovely breakfast
1.location
location - walking distance to almost all tourist attractions , clean room and bathroom, friendly staff
Comfortable bed and pillows. Enough room. Complimentary water, possibilty to make tea and coffee. Fridge.
Breakfast was good.
Clean friendly
What could be improved: Thought it was in a turkish labour camp
Spacious room, comfortable bed, complimentary water. Good breakfast.
What could be improved: not a dislike as such but I found the cupboard doors very difficult to open, very heavy and too small a knob.
As we occupied an “accessible “ room I felt that should be a consideration.
Reception staff were great, the team.that cleaned our room did a super job which was room 403. Thank you. A really nice choice for Breakfast.
What could be improved: It is not well sign posted from the local station. Where as Lidl next door has a huge sign which you can see from the end of the street. There is no obvious sign for the Marriott.
Great location for Munich Central Station. Close to Karlsplatz. Comfy bed, nice room, lovely helpful staff, excellent choice of food for breakfast.
What could be improved: Nothing
ROOM clean
What could be improved: all ok
