Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about this place? The balcony actually delivers on its promise – I mean, you’d be surprised how many “balcony apartments” in Munich give you what’s basically a glorified windowsill. But here on Landsberger Straße, you’re getting proper outdoor space where you can actually sit with your morning coffee and watch the neighborhood wake up. The Schwanthalerhöhe district isn’t touristy at all, which honestly works in your favor – you’re living like locals do, grabbing groceries at the Edeka down the street and figuring out which U-Bahn entrance gets you downtown fastest (spoiler: it’s about a 12-minute ride to Marienplatz).

The apartment itself feels refreshingly unhotel-like, if that makes sense. Someone clearly put thought into the kitchen setup – there’s actually counter space to work with, and the coffee maker isn’t one of those tiny pods-only things that leave you caffeinated but unsatisfied. The whole vibe is sort of like staying at a friend’s place, except your friend has really good taste and keeps everything spotlessly clean. I was worried about street noise since Landsberger can get busy during rush hour, but the windows do their job well enough that you’re not jolted awake by delivery trucks at 6 AM. The Wi-Fi actually works properly too – I know, I know, that shouldn’t be noteworthy in 2024, but you’d be amazed how many places still struggle with this basic requirement.

What really sells me on this spot is how it sits in the city. Schwanthalerhöhe gets overlooked by most visitors, but it’s honestly one of those neighborhoods where Munich feels most like itself – residential without being sleepy, connected without being chaotic. You’ve got the Theresienwiese (yeah, where Oktoberfest happens) within walking distance, and the central train station is close enough that day trips to Salzburg or the castles become actual possibilities rather than ambitious plans you abandon by lunchtime. The building itself has that solid, no-nonsense German construction feel – thick walls, reliable heating, the kind of place that makes you think it’ll outlast us all. Parking can be tricky on the street, but there’s a garage two blocks over if you’re driving. Check-in was smooth, none of that awkward key-handoff-at-a-random-café situation you sometimes get with apartment rentals. For a three-star place, it punches way above its weight – honestly, the only thing missing is a lobby to hang out in, but when you’ve got a balcony and the whole city outside your door, who needs one?

Hotels in Munich offer visitors the opportunity to stay in the heart of this Alpine metropolis, with easy access to castles, museums, and traditional German experiences.

Reviews

  • Excellent family travel choice – Qianyu from Germany – July 4, 2025 (10/10)

Very good location, 5 minutes walk to the connecting station, then you can quickly go to the inner city of Munich. The house facilities are very new and generally well-equipped. The landlord is very friendly and responds to messages in a timely manner.

What could be improved: There is no air conditioning or fan, so it will be a bit hot in the summer nights.
