Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Brunnenhof City Center on Schillerstrasse, you immediately get that “I’m in the right spot” feeling. This three-star hotel sits perfectly in the Ludwigsvorstadt district, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better for exploring Munich. The building itself has that classic Bavarian charm without being too touristy — you know what I mean, it feels authentic rather than like a theme park version of Germany.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s the thing about staying in Ludwigsvorstadt — you’re literally minutes from everything that matters. The main train station is close enough that you won’t break a sweat dragging your luggage, but you’re far enough away to avoid the chaos and noise. I actually love this neighborhood because it’s where locals live and work, so you get real Munich vibes. Plus, couples seem to really appreciate the area (they consistently rate it 8 out of 10), and I can see why — there are cozy beer gardens and authentic restaurants tucked into every corner.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d expect from a well-run three-star place — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed without any unnecessary frills. The beds are genuinely comfortable (not just hotel-marketing comfortable), and the bathrooms are modern enough that you won’t feel like you’re roughing it. What I appreciated most was the attention to practical details — good lighting for reading, enough outlets for your devices, and windows that actually open for fresh air.
Breakfast & Practical Perks
The breakfast situation here is actually impressive for a hotel this size. They’ve got continental options, but what really caught my attention was how they handle dietary restrictions — vegetarian, vegan, halal, and gluten-free choices are all available at the buffet. It’s not just an afterthought either; they clearly put effort into making sure everyone finds something good to eat. And here’s a practical bonus that saved me some headaches: they have private parking right at the hotel, which is honestly a godsend in Munich where finding a spot can be a nightmare.
Why Guests Love It
What makes this place work is how it balances being centrally located without feeling like you’re staying in a tourist trap. The staff knows the neighborhood well and can point you toward the good local spots — not just the obvious tourist attractions. You’re close enough to walk to Marienplatz when you want to see the famous Glockenspiel, but you can also duck into a proper Bavarian restaurant where locals actually eat. The hotel consistently gets high marks (around 8 out of 10) because it delivers exactly what it promises — a comfortable, well-located base for exploring Munich without breaking the bank or dealing with unnecessary complications.

Guest Reviews
Great location. Friendly staff
The rooms are very comfortable and beds are quite cosy. Its a silent place so one can really get a good night's sleep. The staff is fine, and breakfast is good enough, although it gets repeated every day.
Location is walking distance from Munich Central station and also not far from Marienplatz so easy to commute within the city
What could be improved: Drinking water fountain was confusing, the sign for clear water and sparkling water was not correct
Clean comfortable and close to main railway station and not far to walk to key Munich sights. Friendly staff who lent us kettle for our room.
What could be improved: Because it is close to the train station, it is a busy and somewhat seedy part of town.
Spacious big room for all 5 adults and even opened luggage space.
water dispenser available for all guests is definite a very good gesture
What could be improved: No air-conditioning and the weather was warming up. opened the room window but the restaurant's cooking smell is entering the room, stuffy at night during sleep
Very friendly staff and nice breakfast of Bavaria style are very impressive.
What could be improved: If the worker who prepared the room could do better to make sure that all items are fully provided, so that the guest would feel more comfortable right at the beginning.
This hotel was located about 8 blocks from the main transportation terminal and about 8 blocks from the edge of the city center / tourist area. Bus and trains are available about 5 blocks away. We rented electric scooters which worked well. The room was very nice and spacious with a nice bathroom. Breakfast was included which was a buffet of meats, cheese, fruits and breads. Several fruit stands, bakeries and coffee shops were within a block.
What could be improved: The shower is part of the fully tiled bathroom, only separated by a shower curtain. This allows water on most of the bathroom floor which can be inconvenient.
Comfortable bed and room. Spacious. Excellent breakfast. Great staff who all went out of their way to provide extras for us. Child and family friendly.
What could be improved: Nothing, however be aware the hotel is located in an ethnic enclave. If you have a problem being among Bulgarian or other Eastern Europe people or businesses, or middle eastern too, then find somewhere else. If, like us, you don’t, you have a ton of grocery stores and restaurants to enjoy.
The staff were all super friendly and spoke fluent English. The hotel is quiet, despite it's central location only 15 mins walk from Marienplatz. The buffet-style breakfast was delicious: a choice of lots of cheeses and hams, as well as cereals, pastries, fruit juice and a variety of tea/coffees. It is only 5- 10 minute walk from the Hauptbahnhof (Central Munich Station) and there are a number of good restaurants (the hotel is in the Middle Eastern quarter so lots of ethnic restaurants nearby) and coffee bars within easy walking distance. We had a lovely stay and hope to be back next time we're in Munich.
What could be improved: The hotel is excellent but if you have younger children, be aware that there are two strip clubs in the street and in nearby streets. The area did not feel at all unsafe, despite this.
The room was clean and bright. The beds were very comfortable. The location is excellent. So easy to get to from the main train station. We will stay here again.
The front desk staff were very helpful. They directed us to a great Italian restaurant around the corner that we went to twice!
What could be improved: The bathroom smelled like urine from the moment we arrived. It seemed to go away one day but then returned. We weren't in the room much, so it wasn't a big deal. The area of town was a little sketchy if you went the wrong way, but we found a great restaurant around the corner that we went to twice.
