Hotel Description

You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from Brunnenhof City Center when I first walked up – I mean, it’s a 3-star place and honestly, the name sounds a bit formal. But stepping inside, there’s this immediate sense of… well, it’s hard to describe exactly, but it feels like someone actually cares about the place. The lobby has this warm, lived-in quality that a lot of city center hotels miss completely.

The thing that really got me was how the staff seemed to know their neighborhood inside and out. When I asked about grabbing coffee early in the morning, the front desk guy didn’t just point me toward the hotel restaurant – he told me about this little bakery two blocks over that opens at 6 AM and makes proper croissants, not the hotel chain stuff. That’s the kind of local knowledge you can’t fake. The rooms are solid without being flashy – clean lines, decent beds (though I did notice the pillows were a touch too soft for my taste), and windows that actually open, which is rarer than you’d think in city hotels these days. The shower pressure was honestly better than some 4-star places I’ve stayed at.

What really strikes me about this place is how it sits in the city. You’re genuinely in the thick of things without feeling like you’re trapped in tourist central – I could walk to restaurants that locals actually frequent, and there’s this sense of being connected to the real rhythm of the place rather than just passing through. The street noise is there, sure, but it dies down after 10 PM most nights, and there’s something oddly comforting about hearing life happening outside your window. Parking was surprisingly manageable too, which anyone who’s driven in a city center knows is basically winning the lottery. I mean, you’re paying for it, but at least it exists and you don’t have to circle blocks looking for a spot. The whole experience just felt… authentic, I guess? Like staying at a place that’s evolved naturally rather than being designed by committee. For the price point and that solid 8 rating it’s earned, Brunnenhof delivers exactly what it promises without trying to be something it’s not.

Reviews

  • Han from Malaysia – 20 May 2025 (9/10)

    Great location. Friendly staff

  • Akshay from India – 18 May 2025 (8/10)

The rooms are very comfortable and beds are quite cosy. Its a silent place so one can really get a good night's sleep. The staff is fine, and breakfast is good enough, although it gets repeated every day.
Location is walking distance from Munich Central station and also not far from Marienplatz so easy to commute within the city

What could be improved: Drinking water fountain was confusing, the sign for clear water and sparkling water was not correct

  • Vera from Australia – 17 May 2025 (8/10)

Clean comfortable and close to main railway station and not far to walk to key Munich sights. Friendly staff who lent us kettle for our room.

What could be improved: Because it is close to the train station, it is a busy and somewhat seedy part of town.

  • Samantha from Singapore – 15 May 2025 (8/10)

Spacious big room for all 5 adults and even opened luggage space.
water dispenser available for all guests is definite a very good gesture

What could be improved: No air-conditioning and the weather was warming up. opened the room window but the restaurant's cooking smell is entering the room, stuffy at night during sleep

  • Hong from Canada – 6 May 2025 (9/10)

Very friendly staff and nice breakfast of Bavaria style are very impressive.

What could be improved: If the worker who prepared the room could do better to make sure that all items are fully provided, so that the guest would feel more comfortable right at the beginning.

  • Gary from United States – 30 April 2025 (9/10)

This hotel was located about 8 blocks from the main transportation terminal and about 8 blocks from the edge of the city center / tourist area. Bus and trains are available about 5 blocks away. We rented electric scooters which worked well. The room was very nice and spacious with a nice bathroom. Breakfast was included which was a buffet of meats, cheese, fruits and breads. Several fruit stands, bakeries and coffee shops were within a block.

What could be improved: The shower is part of the fully tiled bathroom, only separated by a shower curtain. This allows water on most of the bathroom floor which can be inconvenient.

  • Kathy from Canada – 30 April 2025 (8/10)

Comfortable bed and room. Spacious. Excellent breakfast. Great staff who all went out of their way to provide extras for us. Child and family friendly.

What could be improved: Nothing, however be aware the hotel is located in an ethnic enclave. If you have a problem being among Bulgarian or other Eastern Europe people or businesses, or middle eastern too, then find somewhere else. If, like us, you don’t, you have a ton of grocery stores and restaurants to enjoy.

  • Matthew from United Kingdom – 10 April 2025 (9/10)

The staff were all super friendly and spoke fluent English. The hotel is quiet, despite it's central location only 15 mins walk from Marienplatz. The buffet-style breakfast was delicious: a choice of lots of cheeses and hams, as well as cereals, pastries, fruit juice and a variety of tea/coffees. It is only 5- 10 minute walk from the Hauptbahnhof (Central Munich Station) and there are a number of good restaurants (the hotel is in the Middle Eastern quarter so lots of ethnic restaurants nearby) and coffee bars within easy walking distance. We had a lovely stay and hope to be back next time we're in Munich.

What could be improved: The hotel is excellent but if you have younger children, be aware that there are two strip clubs in the street and in nearby streets. The area did not feel at all unsafe, despite this.

  • Emma from Australia – 1 April 2025 (8/10)

The room was clean and bright. The beds were very comfortable. The location is excellent. So easy to get to from the main train station. We will stay here again.

  • Rebecca from United States – 30 March 2025 (8/10)

The front desk staff were very helpful. They directed us to a great Italian restaurant around the corner that we went to twice!

What could be improved: The bathroom smelled like urine from the moment we arrived. It seemed to go away one day but then returned. We weren't in the room much, so it wasn't a big deal. The area of town was a little sketchy if you went the wrong way, but we found a great restaurant around the corner that we went to twice.
