The name actually fits – this place has some personality, which honestly isn’t something you can say about every 3-star spot in Munich. I mean, the city center is packed with hotels that all blur together, but this one feels like someone actually thought about the experience beyond just cramming beds into rooms.

The location is what really makes it work. You’re properly in the Zentrum, not in some outer district where hotels claim to be “central” because there’s a U-Bahn station within walking distance. From here, you can actually stroll to Marienplatz without planning your day around public transport schedules – which, let’s be honest, is what you want when you’re trying to soak up Munich. The breakfast situation surprised me too; it’s not just the usual continental spread of sad pastries and instant coffee. They’ve got proper German bread (the kind that actually fills you up), local honey, and decent coffee that doesn’t taste like it came from a machine that’s seen better decades.

What I appreciated most was how the staff seemed to get that travelers aren’t just looking for a place to crash. The guy at reception – I think his name was Stefan – knew his stuff about getting around the city and wasn’t just reciting memorized directions. He pointed me toward this little Bavarian place for dinner that wasn’t touristy nonsense, just solid food where locals actually eat. The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable without trying too hard to be trendy. Sure, you’re not getting marble bathrooms or Egyptian cotton sheets, but the beds are good, the shower pressure is decent, and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without living out of a suitcase. The building has some character too – you can tell it’s got history, but they’ve updated things where it matters. One thing worth mentioning: if you’re a light sleeper, ask for a room away from the street side. Munich’s city center gets lively, especially on weekends, and the sound carries. But honestly, that’s just part of staying somewhere that’s actually in the heart of things rather than tucked away in some quiet suburb. For an 8-rated 3-star hotel, Bold delivers on being a solid home base without pretending to be something it’s not – and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

  Location was brilliant for attending fruhlingsfest. Bed was very comfortable and room was clean. Staff very helpful and pleasant, gave clear instructions on how to get the room cleaned or book breakfast for the next day. Shower was good. We didn't have breakfast here so cannot comment on that.
  
  What could be improved: Breakfast looked disappointing for the price (though, again, we did not try it). Coffee that you can buy from reception is in the tiniest of cups and there is no kettle in the rooms

  We stayed for just one night so it was good and comfortable. Also they have lockers for your luggage if you need it which is a good bonus
