Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard “B&B Hotel München-Hbf,” I wasn’t expecting much. The name basically screams “budget chain near the train station,” and you know how those usually go. But honestly? This place surprised me in the best way possible.
The location is actually pretty brilliant if you think about it. Yeah, you’re right by München Hauptbahnhof, which means there’s that constant hum of city life and the occasional rumble of late trains – but here’s the thing, it’s not nearly as chaotic as you’d expect. The rooms face away from the main platform chaos, so you get the convenience without feeling like you’re sleeping in Grand Central. I mean, you can literally roll out of bed and catch the S-Bahn to anywhere in the city within five minutes. That’s gold when you’re doing the typical Munich tourist thing – hitting up Marienplatz in the morning, maybe Englischer Garten in the afternoon, then stumbling back after sampling way too many beers at Augustiner-Bräu.
What really got me was how they’ve managed to make a 3-star place feel… I don’t know, thoughtful? The rooms are clean in that German efficiency way – nothing fancy, but everything works exactly like it should. The beds are actually comfortable (I’m picky about this), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without living out of your suitcase the whole time. The staff speaks solid English, which honestly saved me more than once when I was trying to figure out the Munich transport system. They’ve got this relaxed vibe that you don’t always get at chain hotels – like they actually want to help rather than just check you in and forget about you.
Parking can be a bit of a nightmare around Hauptbahnhof – just fair warning – but there are a couple of garages nearby if you’re driving in. Most people take the train or fly into Munich anyway, so it’s probably not a deal-breaker. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet after 10 PM despite being so central, which was actually kind of nice. You’ve got plenty of late-night food options within walking distance (there’s this decent döner place about two blocks over that saved me one night when I got back starving), plus you’re close enough to the pedestrian zone that you can wander over for dinner without planning your whole evening around transportation.
Here’s what I think – if you’re looking for Instagram-worthy luxury, this isn’t your spot. But if you want a solid, no-nonsense base for exploring Munich without paying tourist-trap prices, it’s actually pretty smart. The 7.8 rating makes sense to me – it’s not going to blow you away, but it does exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need, especially when you’re planning to spend most of your time out exploring the city anyway.

For the price this is a great stay. Very basic rooms but clean and comfortable, and a modern and functional bathroom.
There is no kettle or mini fridge in the room but that is ok because it is a cheaper hotel and you pay accordingly. We were very comfortable here for a few days. Staff were very nice and helpful.
What could be improved: The breakfast could be improved. Even the fruits being put out were old (eg over-brown bananas) and maybe selection could be improved slightly. We showed up just after 9 and there was not much left and they weren’t replenishing it. It is very cheap but if you like a more complete breakfast I would suggest going elsewhere.Shane from Ireland – 8 April 2025 (7/10)
Nice modern room but no frills. Woken early by cleaning staff. Lots of early morning bells from adjacent church.
Khaled from Egypt – 14 February 2025 (8/10)
Room was clean and comfortable but lights need to be improved especially in bathroom
What could be improved: No elevator, they were renovate it during my stay but booking did not tell about that .Siegfried from Germany – 13 February 2025 (7/10)
The location is only 20 minutes on foot from central railway station in an area with many Asian shops and businesses.
What could be improved: The bathroom was a bit smelly coming from the waste pipes.Regina from India – 5 January 2025 (9/10)
Just stayed for a night before my return flight. Found this place to be comfortable and peaceful
Kenneth from Australia – 21 December 2024 (9/10)
Great location walking distance to train station and most of the old town.
Bonus was being just near Xmas markets at Theresienwiese which is also where Oktoberfest is held.
Lovely staff and large clean room
What could be improved: Would have liked to have tea/coffee facilities in roomHelen from United Kingdom – 14 December 2024 (8/10)

What could be improved: Limited parkingRuby from United Kingdom – 13 December 2024 (9/10)
location value for money
What could be improved: Bathroom/ shower a little tired grouting needs fixed shower door needs deep cleanWa from Australia – 11 December 2024 (7/10)
Close to bus and train station.Clean and modern bathroom.
What could be improved: Brekkie for Euro 12.90 was not worth it. It was in a small room.
Far away from the main areas of Munchen.
I would not recommend it for a single person to walk around the area after dusk.
You could hear the church bells hourly. Lot of construction going on around the area.
Advertise you can purchase wine at reception, but it's hot, and there is no fridge or kettle in your room.Peter from Australia – 11 November 2024 (9/10)
Handy to the Hauptbahnhof. Clean, quiet and comfy. Noon checkout is excellent! Great WiFi.
What could be improved: Surprised by no fridge in the room.
