Hotel Description

You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from the Abasto Hotel München Feldmoching when I first pulled up – I mean, it’s out in Feldmoching, which honestly feels like you’re almost leaving Munich behind. But sometimes those assumptions bite you in the rear, and this turned out to be one of those pleasant surprises that makes you feel a bit smug about finding a hidden gem.

The thing about staying here is that you’re actually in a pretty smart spot if you know how to work it. Sure, you’re not stumbling back to your room from the Hofbräuhaus, but the S-Bahn connection is solid – the Feldmoching station is right there, and you can get into the city center in about twenty minutes without dealing with the insane parking situation downtown. I actually found myself appreciating the quieter vibe after a day of fighting tourist crowds around Marienplatz. The neighborhood has this authentic residential feel where you’ll see actual Müncheners going about their daily business, not just endless tour groups with matching backpacks.

What really won me over was how the staff seemed to actually care about getting things right. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no overselling of spa packages or restaurant reservations I didn’t want. The rooms are clean and functional without trying to be something they’re not, which I respect more than places that put all their money into a flashy lobby and then stick you in a closet. The beds are comfortable enough that I wasn’t thinking about my back in the morning, and honestly, the shower pressure was better than half the boutique places I’ve stayed at in Schwabing. There’s this practical, no-nonsense approach that feels very… well, very German in the best way.

The breakfast situation is solid – not going to change your life, but you’ll leave satisfied and caffeinated. What I really appreciated was the parking (free, which is basically unheard of if you’re staying anywhere near the city center) and the fact that you can actually sleep at night. No trams rattling by at 2 AM, no drunk tourists singing in the courtyard. If you’re someone who values actually resting when you travel, this matters more than you might think. Plus, there’s a decent bakery just down the street where locals grab their morning pretzels – always a good sign. The 8.3 rating makes total sense once you realize this place knows exactly what it is and executes it well, rather than trying to be some Instagram-perfect destination hotel that disappoints in the details.
